"On that note." TFR interjects. He turns to Ava Max. "Are you... one hundred percent sure you want to come with us?"
"Yes." She replies immediately.
"May I ask why?" TFR says with a half-grimace.
"What, you guys think I can't help?" Ava Max asked the others incredulously. She sighs.
"Of course. You people don't think my kind ever live up to anything, do you?"
"Yep. That's what I've been led to believe." K-391 replies.
"Well, I'm going to prove you guys wrong. I'm going to show your kind that Melitopians can be just as good as you!" Ava Max argues. "You may call us girly music, but we're not good for nothing!"
"Fine." Alan Walker states. "What are you good for then?"
"Yeah!" K-391 agrees. "Do you have technology with you that can help you with your quest?"
"How are you at hand-to-hand combat?" Alan Walker asks. "Proficient, I hope?"
"And when you've lost everything. The entire world has turned their back on you. Do you have the strength of heart to carry on with your mission?" TFR adds.
Ava Max stutters. "I-I-I..."
"What are you good at then?" Alan Walker asks.
"Yeah. If you could enter any contest, you get to pick, but your life rides on you coming out in first place, what would you pick?" K-391 asks.
"Do you have anything going for you that might keep you alive in the thick of things?" TFR queries.
Ava Max snorts. "I'm immortal. What's going to hurt me?"TFR stops grilling her and paces around the room. "Actually, a lot. I've been doing research, and our "immortality" as you call it, is not a invulnerability. It's more of a shield. The more popular the artist, the more popular the artist, the more they can put up with. The less popular... Well, ever hear of Lola Blanc?"
The other artists shake their heads.
"Yeah, neither has anyone else. Which means you could pretty much do her in with a chainsaw." TFR explains. "It's a slider, not a different species. Sure, there is a drop-off, I think it's around the point where age doesn't affect you anymore, rather than just a prolonged lifespan. That's when our eyes start sparkling as well."
"Is that when we get our special abilities too?" Alan Walker asks. "Because it feels like I've had mine since birth."
"And my eyes have always sparkled." K-391 adds.
TFR shrugs. "I suppose certain people were meant to be artists from the start. I'm not sure. This is just my current theory."
"How does this relate to me being inept?" Ava Max asks.
"It means that you're not invulnerable. You just have a good shield. But you're gonna need a useful skill or advantage to get through this. In other words, a sword. And you have no sword." TFR responds.
"I'm still coming, and nothing you guys say can stop me!"
Alan Walker groans. "She's like this a lot."
TFR sighs. "At least let me make you a sword."
