PHONE CALL TIME: 3:30 AM
The phone was ringing and the pillows were vibrating. I had five pillows all over me and I wished to sleep more for heaven's sake. But the phone won't stop ringing. I grabbed it under my pillow and tried so hard to zigzag my passcode on the lock and press the speaker phone.
"Hello." I think my voice deprived me.
"Hi, babe."
"Hmm." I stretched upon hearing his voice. "Puwede pa ba akong matulog?"
He chuckled.
"Are you not busy?"
"I am in Cairo. I just arrived."
"Uh! Oh yeah! Kumusta naman diyan?"
"Okay lang. I was here two years ago. Wala naman malaking pinagbago. Are you tired?"
"I slept after midnight."
"What time is it there?"
"Three forty-five in the morning."
"And I woke you up?"
Of course. "It's okay," I said para naman hindi siya ma-guilty.
He was moving and I could hear things in the background. "Sana nandito ka. Napapagod ako."
"Ano naman ang gagawin ko sa pagod mo?" Ugh! I felt like an unfeeling b*tch! Pero hindi ko na naawat ang sarili ko.
"Nakakawala ng pagod ang may kayakap," sabi niya.
"Har-har-har!" I said literally. Nagising na talaga ako nang tuluyan. "I am hugging the soft pillows."
"Hindi mo naman ma-i-imagine na ako 'yan kasi siyempre, I am harder than your pillows."
"Yeah, you are harder. On the other hand, you can grab and hug your pillows and imagine it is me." I grinned even if he couldn't see.
"Hmm. Tingin ko magpapahinga na lang ako nang walang kayakap. This is so frustrating."
