Brett and I stood side by side behind the crowd looking at the stage that was high enough so that we could see from afar. A live band was performing jazz music.

It was his welcome party which was celebrated in one of the biggest dance and function halls of Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas. A few blocks away from our office.

The entire Makati and Ortigas branch was invited, along with the executives worldwide.

They really flew from their respective branches and countries just to be here tonight.

Until now, I didn't know how important Brett would be in the company.

He was casually standing right next to me in his yellow long-sleeved shirt and black trousers.

Nakatupi ng hanggang forearms ang sleeves niya at bukas na ang ilang butones niyon sa dibdib.

He discarded the suit already. His black shoes were still impeccably shiny.

Pagdating namin kanina sa opisina, humiwalay ako sa kanya at tumuloy sa office ko.

He had a few meetings right away.

I made sure that James guided him with everything. As far as I'm concerned, tapos na ang trabaho ko sa kanya when he was hired.

Sinundo ko lang siya kanina dahil na din sa request niya.

And James invited me to eat early dinner with them at four dahil naisip daw ako ni Brett sabi ng boss ko.

Until the small chitchats with other executives after office hours.

Sumipol din si Brett nang makita ako. Kinindatan ko siya to ease my heart that was beating so fast with the silent appreciation.
