I read BRETT's text before I put my phone in my handbag:
I'm leaving, see you at the elevator.
When I looked up I saw him pass by walking towards the lobby, following him a meter away was HER.
I raised my eyebrow. I took my time before I walked out of my office. I found them in the lobby talking.
She was standing so close to him and looking up at him. He was tall and towering over her even though she was wearing high heels.
I walked to them and stood beside him. I smiled at her.
She didn't even look at me.
I smiled at Brett.
"Nandiyan ka na pala. Let's go," he said.
Naglakad ako palabas ng lobby going to the elevator.
I felt him behind me. When I stood at the lift door, I saw her on his other side.
She kept on talking, asking him things.
His answers were monosyllabic and I felt that the topic was nonsense.
We entered the elevator.
Madaming tao kaya napausog ako sa corner. I held on to his arm. He securely clasped his arm around my waist. I saw her at his other side, trying to find her place on earth, pity.
We let everybody out first before we walked out of the lift.
Brett held my hand while walking. I saw her look at our hands before she started telling her stories again.
Sasama ba ito sa amin?
He was being a gentleman and was not responding defensively or anything. He was answering her every question in general.
She was being personal and he was being the man that I practically love.
We walked to the streets. He looked down at me and pressed my hand. "You okay, baby?"
