HER CLOTHES WERE SOAKED, her hair was dripping, and her makeup was smeared. Rory walked past the people at the party, who made way for her because they realized she was in a pitty state.

She tried to stop them from fighting and gets beaten up instead. Harrington really was a jerk. If the chlorinated water had ruined her favorite jacket, he'd have to deal with the consequences.

With her arms around her body, Rory  was cold and shivering as she made her way down the steps to the entrance. In just a few seconds, she was outside, crossing the beautifully lit courtyard of the palace. She walked briskly to get away from the house as quickly as possible. She just wanted to get away from those crazy, aggressive, and annoying people. That they seem to do a lot of shit and get away with it.

Actually, she should have dressed up as a clown that night, because that's what she looked like. Hargrove thought, disappointed with the way the night had ended. And the worst of all is that she was also to blame for what happened.

She'd only had a little alcohol, but that drink had already made her a bit tipsy. What was she thinking? Hearing that revelation behind the door made her speechless. It felt like she'd been caught off guard, like a rug had been pulled out from under her feet, making her fall onto the ground.

Due to this, she and Steve had an argument in front of everyone, so she knew deep down that she deserved those rude words. And, damn it, there were so many things left unsaid. If Billy hadn't played the protective brother role, none of that would have happened. Nobody would have a swollen face right now, and she wouldn't have fallen into the pool.

Rory was pretty bold, even if she was sometimes scared of herself. Maybe the drink would bring out all the confidence she didn't know she had.

She gave in to temptation and kept pushing him. She'd crossed a line. What if he really was telling the truth? What if he really didn't know where the girl was and it was just an irresponsible teenage mistake? It didn't clear him completely, but perhaps he wasn't really responsible. And it turned out Barb really had been kidnapped. There were so many possibilities, it was giving her a headache.

Deep down, she wanted to tell the police everything.

But she would have to talk it over with Nancy first, and soon. But according to Steve, it was a delicate subject because she and Barb were best friends. And there she was, Rory the detective, trying to get involved where she didn't really belong. If she'd kept quiet, she wouldn't be walking endlessly in the middle of a forest, her clothes ruined and damp from the icy night air that could give her pneumonia.
