AURORA'S STAY IN THE REAL WORLD HAD BEEN NOTHING MORE THAN A BRIEF VISIT. Because in the dawn of November 6, 1987, she found herself once again surrounded by the dark, putrid, and cold environment of the Upside Down, looking at the real world's features reflected in a setting straight out of a nightmare.

If her predictions were correct, this would be the last time in her life she would ever be in that place, beneath those red lightning bolts tearing through the navy-blue clouds in the sky. And she couldn't be more eager for all of it to be over. Still, she couldn't deny that all that adrenaline would bring her a sense of nostalgia. Whenever a cycle ends, that feeling sticks to us in an inevitable way.

While El, Kali, Hopper, and Murray had stayed behind at the lab, the rest of the group had gone to the beanstalk — the tall Squawk radio tower.

With her chin held high and her gaze sliding along the length of the structure, the ten of them prepared to climb to the top of the tower.

Aurora couldn't deny she had already noticed that gravity seemed to work a little differently in that place — but as she climbed, one foot after the other, one hand after the other, along the stairs that ran up the side of the tower toward the top, she felt her body being pulled downward, almost like by an invisible magnet.

After a few minutes, Rory reached the platform at the top of the tower. It looked like an unstable base, but that wasn't her biggest fear at that moment. She wiped the cold sweat from her forehead with the back of her hands, then inhaled deeply through her nose and exhaled through her mouth, trying to calm her chest, which was visibly rising and falling beneath all the post-apocalyptic-style clothing she was wearing.

After taking a sip of water, she placed both hands on the edges of the rusted iron railing. It was undoubtedly a bad decision, because at that moment she felt a wave of vertigo weaken her knees and dizziness strike at her temples.

She wasn't carrying any handmade tools or weapons on her back because Steve had insisted on being a gentleman and carrying that gear himself. So she had limited herself to an old backpack, where she kept a first-aid kit, some large sharp knives in case hand-to-hand combat was needed, and flashlights and batteries. After all, they didn't know if there would be enough light in the Abyss.

But judging by the intense red color of the cracks in the rocky sky that was slowly descending in gradual slow motion, it looked like it would be a place full of light.

"It's like hell is threatening to crush us slowly." Aurora murmured in a low voice when she caught Steve's scent near her.

"Honestly, I don't know if it's that slow." With his hands resting on his hips, Harrington mimicked the posture most of them had — chin raised, staring up at the sky.
