The hot summer slowly turned into a lovely fall. I was excited that Barns and I had became good friends during the summer. I planned on going to a fall festival, but I didn't want to go alone. So I decided to text him and ask if he would go with me. While I waited for his reply I organized my art supplies. Last night I stayed up drawing and forgot to put everything back. When my phone buzzed I couldn't help the smile that I had on my face.
Barns: I'd love to go to the fall festival with you. I'll met you at your place in a few minutes.
Me: Okay, see ya then. :)
Barns: See ya. :)
I couldn't contain my excitement to hangout with him. I knew I was starting to develop a crush on him. I've tried to fight it, but I just couldn't. There was just something about him that drew me to him. I was too shy to tell him though, because I didn't wanna ruin the friendship we have. Especially if he doesn't feel the same way about me. I finished organizing my things before changing my outfit. I didn't wanna wear my paint stained shirt out into the public. A few minutes passed before there was a knock on my door.
I smiled as I walked over to see who it was. I felt so happy when I saw Barns standing there. I opened the door and my smile grew when we made eye contact. He smiled as well, which made me feel warm inside. "Hey, come here." He said happily as he opened his arms to me. We hugged and I felt safe as always when I'm with him. "You ready to go?" He asked after we broke the hug. "Yeah." I replied before grabbing my backpack. I locked my door before we headed on our way. He had an Uber waiting for us, so we got inside the car. I was glad when he sat in the back seat with me. We made small talk and spoke to the driver as well. Eventually we reached the fall festival and walked up to the gates. It cost ten dollars to get inside and they stamped our hands. Just in case we had to leave and come back.
I lead the way because he said he hadn't been to the festival before. We looked at all of the craft vendors and bought a few things. For lunch we had hamburgers and french fries. For desert we shared a funnel cake. He looked so pretty with the fall leaves as a backdrop. His platinum blonde hair and blue eyes seemed to stand out. Plus he looked good in his red leather jacket, white lacy shirt, and baseball styled pants. His many pearl necklaces forever present every time I see him. I hadn't realized I was staring at him until he made eye contact with me. A smile spread across his handsome face. I blushed and quickly looked away. "You wanna go on the hayride?" He asked me after a moment of awkward silence.
"Yeah, that would be fun. I haven't been on a hayride in a long time." I replied with a smile. Still feeling a little embarrassed that he caught me staring at him. But he didn't seem to mind, or at least he didn't say anything about it. We stood up from the picnic table we were setting at. We walked side by side and got in line. Most of the people there were parents with their kids. Hopefully they didn't mind us being there. The hayride was for everyone, not just children. No one said anything, although they did give Barns a few odd looks. I'm guessing it's because of the way he was dressed. We sat down on some bails of hay and took in the beautiful fall scenery. A tractor pulled the wagon alone that we were seated in.
I shyly linked my arm in his and he looked at me with warmth in his eyes. I got butterflies and I felt myself blush a little. He smiled and I smiled back at him. He moved a little closer to me, which made me feel a little less shy. Once the hayride was over we got out of the wagon. We looked at a few other vendors as well. I got two jars of honey, some herbal tea, and fresh apple cider. By the time we left the festival it was four o'clock. "Do you wanna come over to my place? I can cook dinner." I said after a few moments of comfortable silence. "Of course. I'll take any excuse to spend more time with you." He said, and I melted. "I'll do the same thing too when it comes to you." I said, blushing a little.
An Uber took us back to my place; this time I paid for the ride. I unlocked the door and we walked into my apartment. I made sure to lock the door behind me as well. I didn't want anyone just waltzing into my home. I put away all of the food items I bought at the festival. Then we got started on cooking dinner. We agreed to have spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread and a salad. He helped, which was greatly appreciated. I wondered if he knew that I was starting to have a crush on him. Especially due to the fact that I blushed a lot around him today. I just hoped I wouldn't ruin the friendship by catching feelings.
