I woke up with a pair of arms wrapped around me. A warm body was laying next to mine. It took me a moment to realize I was nestled into someone's chest. I rubbed sleep from my eyes and moved a little. When my gaze met the sleeping stranger my insides warmed. He looked so peaceful as he slept; his soft snores sounded so cute. I gently brushed a few strands of his white curly hair out of his face. His eyelids fluttered open and a warm smile spread across his big lips when he saw me. "I didn't mean to wake you up. I'm sorry." I said softly, feeling guilty for waking him. He gently brushed my cheek with his thumb. Being this close to him it was hard not to get lost in his pretty blue eyes. We stayed like that for a while. I honestly could have stayed like that forever.

"Are you hungry?" I asked softly. He nodded a little less weakly than he usually does. 'Maybe this is an improvement. Maybe his wounds are getting better.' I thought hopefully. "I'll have to change your bandages today. You can take a shower while I go down and make breakfast." I said and he nodded again. I slowly got out of bed and put on some cozy clothes. I changed into a pair of black sweatpants and an oversized sweater. It was a little chilly this morning. When I walked out of the bathroom he was still laying in bed, but he was awake. We smiled at each other before I headed downstairs. 'I wonder if he'll go back to sleeping on the couch after this? Or if he'll keep sleeping in my bed with me.' I wondered as I quietly walked into the living room. I only wondered about it because last night was the best sleep I've had in a long time.

And I... kinda enjoyed waking up wrapped in his arms. I blushed a little thinking about him. I was starting to have a crush on him and I wasn't sure what to do. But I really didn't have the heart to fight the way he was making me feel. I checked on my friend who was still passed out on the couch. She was snoring like crazy and I had to suppress a laugh. When I entered the kitchen I got started on breakfast. I made some coffee and I decided to make some tea for him. Hoping that it would help him get his voice back. I made us pancakes, sausage, eggs, and hash browns. I even got us some fresh fruit that I had bought the other day. I prepared a plate for my friend and put a note on the fridge for her.

I took the rest of the food upstairs to my bedroom. He wasn't in bed and I could hear the shower running. Eventually I heard the water turn off. A few minutes later he walked out of the bathroom. He had on a pair of black jeans and a light blue hoodie. 'I guess he felt a little chilly too.' I thought as I handed him a plate of food. "Thank you." He said in a very rough and faint sounding voice. I gasped softly and smiled when I looked over at him. He was smiling too. "Your voice is coming back." I said happily. I also added that he shouldn't strain his voice too much. Especially since it was still healing. I even noticed that the would on his neck had healed a lot. 'Maybe I won't have to completely bandage him up this time.' I thought as we ate breakfast.

When we were finished eating I grabbed the gauze and medical ointment. He took his hoodie off and I looked him over. I didn't have to wrap him up in as much gauze. It made me feel happy knowing that he was getting better. When I was finished I took my gloves off and washed my hands. He slipped his hoodie back on. I then started gathering the dishes in the tray I had brought up. "Don't go yet." He said weakly in his hoarse voice. The puppy eyes he was looking at me with made me melt. I couldn't say no to him. I stopped gathering the dishes and climbed into bed with him. We sat with our backs propped up by the pillows and cuddled under the blankets. We stayed like that for a while before my phone buzzed.

When I looked at the screen I saw it was my friend texting me. She asked if I was awake and thanked me for making her breakfast. "I have to go downstairs, but I'll be back later." I said and he nodded. I didn't wanna stop cuddling him, but I didn't want my friend to come up here. She would ask too many questions and I didn't wanna lie to her. Hiding him was a better option for the moment. I put my shoes on and walked downstairs. I saw her sitting at the kitchen table finishing off her breakfast. I  brought my cup down with me so I could have another coffee. "The food was delicious. Thanks for letting me crash on your couch." She said with a sheepish smile. But I could tell she was genuinely grateful. "No problem. I would rather have you crash on the couch than crash your car." I said as I sat down at the table.

She asked for Tylenol for her headache. Apparently she had a hangover. After she took the meds we talked for a little while. When she felt better she had to leave. I thought she would stay the weekend, but I guess she had to go to a work party tonight. "Don't drink as much alcohol as you did tonight." I said with a laugh as I walked her out to her car. "Oh, I won't. After that headache I don't think I'll be drinking alcohol for a while." He replied with a laugh of her own. I watched as she drove out of the driveway. It was another perfect fall day, but the skies were cloudy. It seemed like at any moment it could start raining. When I walked back into the house I saw him at the top of the stairs.

"You can come down. She's gone." I said. He walked downstairs with the tray of dirty dishes. He helped me wash, dry, and put everything away. "What's your name? Sorry I didn't ask before." I said, feeling like an idiot. I didn't see the point in asking since he couldn't speak, but now he was getting his voice back. "Barns." He said as we dried our hands. "My name is y/n." I replied with a smile. "That's a pretty name." Barns said. The sound of his voice hurt my soul. It sounded like he had a really bad cold and a severely sore/scratchy throat. I made us some tea. This time I added honey and lemon to his cup, hoping it would help him. It started raining and it felt a little more chilly in the house. So I built a small fire in the fireplace for us. We cuddled under a blanket as we watched the flames and sipped our tea.
