A month passed of Barns and I texting and calling each other. My roommate made it back from vacation, but they were out most nights. It was nice having Barns to talk to; it made me feel less alone. Today was a beautiful June day. I was just thinking about what I would do today when my phone dinged with a notification. After I finished getting dressed I checked my phone. I smiled when I saw that Barns had texted me.
Barns: Hey, you wanna hangout today?
Me: Sure.
Barns: Great! Meet me at the cafe up the street a few blocks from your place.
Me: Okay. I'll be there in a little bit. :)
I couldn't stop smiling as I put my phone in my pocket. I made sure I had my keys and stuff before walking downstairs. I grabbed my backpack, which was my every day backpack. It wasn't the one I take when I go grocery shopping. Then I heading out of the door, locking it behind me before walking towards the cafe. This was the first time he and I had spent time together since we met. I wondered what he would be wearing and if he would have red lipstick on again. As I walked I passed a few people. I wasn't surprised especially since it was a beautiful day. I was glad that it wasn't too hot outside just yet. Eventually I reached the cafe and spotted Barns's platinum blonde hair.
He was sitting at a table near the back of the cafe. As I walked over to him I noticed he was looking at a menu. The shirt he had on was white and kinda flowy; Kinda like the ones pirates wear in movies and stuff. "Hey." I said once I reached the table. He looked up and a smile spread across his handsome face. I could see the happiness in his pretty blue eyes. "Hey, have a seat." He said. I sat down on one of the chairs. I noticed that he still had his a few pearl necklaces on, but not as many as when we first met. I couldn't help but smile as I played with pearl necklace he gave me. I grabbed a menu that was on the table and looked it over. Everything looked so good it was kinda hard to chose what to have.
A few minutes passed before a waiter walked over. He was wearing a chocolate brown apron over a black t-shirt. It kinda looked like he was wearing jeans as well. "Hello, my name is Daniel. May I take your order?" He said as he took a pen and note pad out of his apron pocket. Barns ordered a black coffee and a chicken sandwich. I ordered the same thing, except I asked for a caramel hazelnut iced coffee. I usually just order black coffee, but I wanted something different. Plus, the temperature outside was just going to get hotter today. After the waiter wrote down what we ordered he disappeared into the back.
Barns and I talked about new music that had just been released. Only pausing to thank the waiter when he arrived with our drinks. Eventually he brought our food as well. It felt so nice being able to talk to him face to face again. It was so much better than just over the phone or texting. I just hoped that I wouldn't become boring to him, because I didn't wanna lose him.
