Oracle

The Church of the Guarded Heaven Training Grounds

Oklahoma, USA

December 6th, 2019

"Vyper, you've got two coming around the corner behind you." Oracle spoke quickly over the comms. "Doesn't look like they can see."

Through the cameras, she saw him draw his knife and wait around the corner for them to come to him. They hadn't known he was there, and by the time they realized he was there he was already killing them. The camera's capture rate was barely fast enough for her to see his arms moving, stabbing each of them twice at the bottom of their rib cages. She knew that he had punctured their lungs, and that they'd barely be able to make a sound as they died.

"Oracle, which way now?" Chesyr's voice brought Oracle back to the task at hand. Oracle quickly cycled through the camera feeds until she saw a Chesyr standing at an intersection.

"Hang a right, and that should bring you right to the holding cell hallway." She instructed. "I don't know what room they're in though, so searching them will be up to you. Vyper, after you finish setting up for the finale, I'll guide you back to her."

"Thanks." Vyper said. Oracle cycled back to him just in time to see him drop one of his explosives against the wall by the two cultists he had killed. "I've got a few more of these I want to drop off first."

While they did their thing, Oracle decided to check in on her other two boys.

Fang was hardly visible in the crush of bodies she saw when she found him. He was in a long hallway with a door at one end, and it looked like he had chosen to fight through the mob chasing him rather than through the door. The camera said that he was in the east entrance hallway, so it made sense that he wouldn't have wanted to run outside. The amount of movement on the camera feed made most everything into a green and black blur from the camera's night vision. She could see the walls getting steadily darker as blood splashed them, however, as well as the occasional glint of a knife. Fang was dropping people, but he was also taking damage. As Oracle watched, somebody swung something like a bat, and she saw Fang clearly as he stumbled out of the mass of bodied. He was grinning and covered in blood. He made a motion that Oracle instantly recognized as one of the ways he threw knives, and two bodies separated from the crowd as they fell. Fang was already running down the hall, off camera, and Oracle decided to look for Ranger next.

Unsurprisingly, Ranger wasn't visible on any of the cameras, but his handiwork was. The cameras on the outside of the church showed her nearly a dozen bodies had been added to the yard since Fang had gone inside. The single camera pointing toward the barracks also showed her several broken windows. One had a body laying half out of it, and she saw a shadow in the corner of another one before a flash overloaded the IR on the camera for a second. Somebody had gotten a gun from somewhere and was shooting back at Ranger. Not that it would help them, in the end. They probably didn't even know where he was shooting from.

"-Telling you, that's too much gunfire for a night exercise." A voice said from the woods off the Oracle's left. "We need to get back there!"

"It's probably just everybody celebrating their graduation," A second voice, almost a growl, said. "But if it'll get you to stop worrying about it, then let's head back."

Shit.

Oracle keyed her mic. "We've got a problem. Looks like there was a group on patrol after all, and now they're headed my way."

"Shit." Fang's voice. He sounded out of breath, but of course he'd respond to her mid-fight. "How many?"

Oracle paused to listen to the steadily growing voices.
