Background: Lamias were created with the intention of using their human-like appearance to lure people into kill zones,but upon the great transformation,their appearance and intentions changed. Once,they were monstrous,but now have a beautiful physique, and their strategy for killing prey is now used to capture a mate. Because of their history, and the stigma they faced, Lamias make their home within a canyon oasis in the Barren lands,where they make their homes out of the caves that litter the canyon. Lamias come in various different species; some are like coral snakes,others are like cobras,some are like pythons,etc. some Lamias,like the water moccasin and anaconda variants left their homeland for more suitable habitat, eventually making it to the primordial Marshland.
Culture: Lamias are a matriarchal, tribal culture with elected elites that run the trading,along with primary mating rights. Because their gene pool consists of very few male humans per generation,many Lamias are closely related, and thus treat each other as a massive family unit,and because birth is a very important thing to them,many Lamias are trained midwives. When a Lamia man-hunter finds a human male that strikes their fancy,they will bring him to the elites that live in the heart of the canyon. If the elites like him,they will subject him to a bountiful feast, before copulating with him and making him the alpha husband,if the elites don't like him,he may either choose to leave ,in which they will give him a memory altering drug and leave him where he was found,or he can stay and be wed to the man-hunter that found him. The alpha husband is the official marriage partner to the Lamia elites and is given the right to father their offspring and to bed any Lamia in the village. Any other men that are caught are usually wed to the Lamia that found him,but others will be wed to a 5 member harem to aid in the birthrate. Lamias are known to be very loving mothers and are very faithful to their husbands, and will violently reject the alpha husband's advances on her or her daughter(s). Young Lamias will be very attached to their fathers, and upon reaching adulthood will typically seek out men with similar traits.
Interactions: Lamias have a very close connection to harpies,as they share the same canyon environment, and will occasionally even share husbands. Lamias are also known to trade food with the lizard people of the Girdle Forest, with their main merchandise being edible plants that are abundant in the springs of the canyons.
