Pain's Worth It
Qua' sean POV°

Well, I eventually got her out the house although she didn't know I set this whole thing up. Her mom was having a mother's day party at five in the afternoon and I made Toni invite Midnight.
As I saw her, I grew nervous, but I was also excited to see her. Her presence makes my mood change, and I think mines does the same to hers.
We made eye contact for a few minutes, but nothing. There was still tension between us. I sighed and walked over to Toni who was getting something to drink.
"What if she changes her mind?" I asked standing in front of her.
She choked a bit on the fruit punch cause I startled her "Dont pop up in front of me" she wiped around her lips "Then she changes her mind. I can't change her decision"
"But I really want to tell her tonight. I can't wait another day because the tension will just grow thicker than it is already. I can't do that to her"
"You my friend..." She patted my shoulder "Are the ultimate fucker upper. You always find a way to mess everything up. How does it make you feel to ruin something good?"
I looked at her with a blank stare "Look, just make sure she still going to the buffet with us along with y'all mom and the kids" she nodded and I walked away.
I hung around for a bit just thinking about how to break it down to her. Her mom kept throwing a stank face my way for some reason. Maybe she just hated me since I was with her most hated daughter.
I walked out the house and went somewhere down the block to light a joint. I was stressin a bit, but ain't nothing a joint can't take care of.
It was turnin dark out and it was about that time that the party ended. We went for a ride on a ship downtown for a few minutes. The kids were looking at the manatees swim alongside the boat with Toni. Jacob was talking to his mom, Midnight's mom was drinking and Midnight was just sitting in a corner.
I thought about approaching her and even attempted to at times, but I got cold feet and my gut feeling told me it was a bad idea. I tried to, but the closest I got to her was Lyric.
Toni looked at me and shook her head. I went over to her side as I sideyed Midnight.
"So you're not gonna talk to her while we're all ignoring you guys?" She scoffed.
I scratched my head "I-I-I I dont know why I can't. It feels like a good day to do so, but also seems like a bad day. I'll try at the restaurant"
We continued having small talk for a while before Jacob came and approached us. His mom decided to have a drink too.
"So, what's your status?" He asked with a smile.
"He ain't even go to her!" She said a bit loudly.
"Bruh" he said with a blank expression.
I wiped my forehead "Dont pressure me aight. I got this. I'm gonna do this" I walked away from then and went straight to her.
She looked up at me with her glossy eyes, but didn't speak. She looked back down and got on her phone.
I snatched the phone from her hand "You know the drill" I said in my seriousness.
She sighed and got up "Where?" She looked around.
I took the lead and went to the upper deck of the boat. She took her sweet and precious time climbing up those steps.
"What is this about?" She asked.
