Chapter 41- Trouble

Pain's Worth It

★Middy★
------

I tried to get away from all the messiness happening with Qua' sean, but the media kept reminding me of it, so I logged off of every site. I needed someone to talk to and since I'm in Cali, I can spend some time with my girl Dominique.

I let her run my store here and she never showed me her back. She remained loyal to me since I met her. I can honestly say that, other than my family, she is one of the only persons on my side.

Since it was Sunday the shop was closed. Qua' Sean's mom came over to my house and decided to stay with the kids, so I can relax.

Dominique and I linked up at the spa to get some real relaxation.

I let out a soft moan as the masseuse pressed his fingers into my back "It has been too long, too long!"

"Girl it's the magic of the fingers. Excuse me sir, are you free by any chance?"

The guy chuckled and we began to laugh.

After the massage, we went to get "steamed" up. We sat in the room as the temperature rose a bit and relaxed. This seemed to help distribute my anger in some way.

"So how's the new house?" She smiled.

I wiped my forehead "It's beautiful, but things aren't what I imagined it to be there"

She rolled her eyes and so did I.

"What he do now? You know I am not with that social media" she waved her hands down to her hip.

I huffed "He just doesn't appreciate me and I am not letting him back in this time. I can't deal with his shenanigans anymore especially not now. My son isn't even two years old yet and he wants to ball out like my beautiful babies aren't his. I'm so tired of him and his foolishness Nique"

She moved closer to me "Don't cry hun, don't cry. I haven't seen you shed tears since you found out about the marriage."

"Ugh" I wiped my tears and cleared my voice "I'm becoming weak. I'm too soft, he really has an affect on me"

"Girl, you are talking crazy alright. Now you are crazy and that soft spot is for your daughter and son because you went out and grilled niggas even after your heartbreak. Now chill and let's go eat"

I pushed my hair back "Yea, I'm getting hungry too"

We left the spa with a glow to our skin that caused seemingly endless stares or that's just cause our natural beauty.

We went to a near by Chinese restaurant and talked a little bit more as we ate until she felt someone gazing in her direction.

"You alright?" I asked.

She shook her head.

"What's the matter?"

She fanned herself "Someone is giving me the creeps and I can't take it anymore."

"You want to go?" I gestured a waiter to come our way when she nodded. "Can we have this to go and I'd like the other plates I ordered now. Thank you"

He came back within the next five minutes. We took our things and headed for the door until someone jumped out in front of us.

I didn't know who this was or where they came from so my first instinct was to punch.

The person held their face with their hand and everyone was shocked. Some moved away when that person popped up out of the blue uninvited.

They got up weakly and struggled to balance. We started to observe as a man came and tried to help this stranger out.

"No, leave me alone" I identified it was a girl, but didn't know who she was since the lights are dimmed.

We walked around and exited the restaurant. She followed behind us and I got fed up.

"Midnight!" The voice cried out.

Dominique and I glanced at each other then turned to look at her in broad daylight .

"Dove?!" We said in sync.

She had on filthy, torn clothing and her light skin had black stains on it. She reflected a more caramel tone now. Her wavy jet black hair was in bunches and had leaves on it. Her toes were scarred and her fingers had little cuts.

She nodded to her name "Its me"

"What are you doing out here? What happened to you?" I stepped back as she walked closer. "Stay there".

She halted "Your cousin happened to me. She and I were going broke, but I was in a state of bereavement. My mother had a heart attack not to long ago, but I wasn't with her since she kicked me out" she coughed wretchedly.

We stepped back "Are you homeless?"

She nodded "Its been a while now, but I don't need your help. I'm going to die soon and I want to apologize for the things that I done to you. Name calling, fighting, driving your family against you, sabotaging your home and store and lastly the death of your sister and first child"

I looked at her confused when she said that. Dominique looked at me with a confused look as well.

"Before that day that you guys caught on to my pregnancy hoax, I called Sean and you were asleep. I had some words to say to you, but he insisted that I kept it to myself since he didn't want to lose your baby. I grew jealous and on that day of his going away party, I slid some pills in your drink as you weren't looking" she started to cough more and it scared me.

I nodded "Okay, I forgive you. Thanks for enlightening me on my curiosity for that shocking miscarriage"

She fell to the ground and coughed until she was puking blood. "I won't be here for long. I got AIDS and I grew an addiction for cocaine. Robert left me helpless and Sean too, but he's not with neither of us so why hold a grudge much longer? I'm sorry and I just want your forgiveness"

I nodded "You're right, but I'm sorry about your condition. You want to go to the hospital?"

She shook her head "No ones coming to my funeral so why? I have no kids and I don't want to create one knowing I'm unhealthy. Thanks for the forgiveness"

I nodded and we walked away to our cars. Dominique's car was parked parallel to mines. Before I got in my car, she ran back to me squealing.

I started to pat her back since she sounded like she was choking on that pork.

"No, no. Look" she pointed lightly to an unfamiliar person.

"Who is that?" I squinted in confusion.

She stomped her foot "Its Monique, I know how she looks. I've seen her at your boutique a few times. She's a regular". She grabbed my hand.

I stepped in my car "Not today. Not ever. Dove made a point and I don't have him so why am I starting trouble? She's pretty and all and she got the man that I was once in love with, but it's not worth it"

She pursed her lips "I understand. I really wanted to beat some makeup off her coloring book, but I'll get over it because we're growing up and don't have to show our asses. " she hugged me "Bye"

I hugged her back "See you later love"

I drove home and took the kids for a drove while I dropped their grandmother home. We ate the rest of the food on the car and listened to music as the sun went down. We went to the gas station to pick up some drinks and fuel up.

My kids make me so happy. When I cry they cry and that motivates me to stop with that baby foolishness because I influence them to do so. I already know we have strong bonds, but...I couldn't stop thinking of all the trouble Dove caused herself to be in, but its her negativity. I wonder if she thinks the pain was worth her while. Probably not.
