I headed to Midnight's house, thinking we were gonna hang out, but it took her longer than usual to answer the door. I realized there were no cars there and when I looked in the window, no one was inside.

I decided to sit on the porch steps and wait.

A white man with Summer shorts and a wife beater was staring at me while hosing down his car.

I waved my hand to say hello.

"Hiya neighbor" he waved back at me with a smile.

I stood up then patted down my pants "Did you see them leave?"

"They've been gone for a week now. Shucks that's their vacationing home" he nodded.

I looked at the house and mumbled to myself as I walked back to my car "Thanks dude"

"Wait" he said running towards me.

"What?" I looked at him with my hands on the door handle.

He handed me a marker and a notepad "Can I get an autograph? Its for my daughter" he nodded his head nervously "To Phil"

I nodded "Here you go"

"I appreciate it"

I got in my car then decided to call Midnight. The Bluetooth was on as I drove someplace else.

"Hello?" She sounded tired as she winced.

I cleared my throat "So you left?"

"A week ago. Why?" She grunted.

I winked my brow "Why I aint get the memo?"

"I told you" she said surely.

I shook my head "Naw, you didn't. But it's aight. What's new?"

"Uhhh" she huffed "Well last week I realized there was a lot of things missing from around my house and the night we got back from Cali, someone was in the house. They ran when they heard Toni and I coming"

I cleared my throat "How you knew they ran?"

"The loud ass footsteps and the door slamming shut. The kids were asleep, so I'm like a fucking... body guard in this bitch"

I laughed a bit "You got issues"

"These kids are like my muse. If Toni and I lost them to some stranger, it will be war. I fucking live for these kids" she stressed and groaned.

"I feel ya. Anyone would do that for family. I know I would over my kids if I had any" I shrugged it off and just headed back home.

I just sat in my car and continued talking to Midnight.

"Who could it be though?"

"Your sister. Rebel" I scratched the side of my head.

"Boy, its Rebecca not no damn rebel. Ugh, it could be, but I don't think it was her. So much people is under my radar and I can't find the time to deal with them"

I shrugged "I got you baby"

"No,no,no. I can't let you do it. I love you too much to let anything happen to you. You're like my third happiness"

"Who's the first and second?" I said frowning a bit.

"Don't worry bout that, but ugh... What you doing?"
