Chapter 20

Katniss pov

Peeta and I decided that we would go to district 4 to visit Annie for our honeymoon, "Katniss!" Peeta calls "You ready" Yeah" I say hauling the last of my bags to the front door, "Okay Prim" I say "Call if you need anything, and Haymitch and Effie are gonna look in on you every so often, Prim sighs, "Katniss, I'm 15 I don't need to be looked in on" "I know" I say "It's more for my piece of mind, besides it's not like they're going to harass you  and considering it's Haymitch you'll probably hardly ever see him and Effie would probably just spoil you" She laughs "Okay fine. "Okay" I say "We should be in district 4 by tomorrow, "Don't burn the house down, no wild parties" I say jokingly, she laughs. "Well, you know where we are" I say. "So far you're still here" Prim says. She's trying to hide it but I can tell she's looking forward to having the house to herself for a week. "Okay" I say "I love you so much" I hug her "Come on Katniss" Peeta says. "See ya Prim" He says hugging her, "Take care of Haymitch" "Don't worry I'll give him plenty of food and water" She says with a laugh. Peeta ushers me out the door "Oh I forgot to tell her" Where the fire extinguisher is!" "She'll be fine Katniss" Peeta says. Putting his arm around me and ushering me to the train station, we board the train takning us to district 4 since the war the travel ban has been lifted so people can travel from district to district as they please, Peeta puts our luggage in overhead compartment and sits down next to me and I lean my head on his shoulder. When we arrive in District 4 Annie greets us at the train station with a hug, "This is Fin" She says gesturing to the little boy grasping her hand, he looks like his father the same bronze hair and green eyes, but he has Annie's nose. "Nice to meet you, Fin" Peeta says bending down to shake the little boy's hand. Fin shakes his hand before quickly hiding behind Annie's leg, "He's a bit shy" Annie says. Peeta and I were gonna stay at a hotel, but Annie insisted we stay with her, she leads us to her house in the victor's village of District 4 it's surprisingly similar to mine the biggest difference being the ocean decor displayed on the walls. I decide to call Prim. I pick up the phone and dial our house and she picks up on the third ring "Hello"? Prim says. "Hey Little duck" I say "How's it going?" "Oh I threw a wild party and burned the whole house down" She says jokingly "Ha ha ha" I say rolling my eyes. "Did you and Peeta make it to 4 okay?" She asks. "No" I say with a laugh "We died on the way here" She laughs. "Okay I'm gonna go, I love you Little duck" "I love you too Kat" I hang up and walk into the other room where Annie Peeta and Fin are.

Peeta pov

Seeing Annie brings back memories not all of them good I'd have to listen to her screams every day as she was tortured by Snow's men it was horrible. Annie's torture was more psychological than physical, she told me they forced her to watch old footage of her games of her tribute partner being decapitated and of her family being killed and edited footage of Finnick being killed. 

Prim pov

The house seems so big without Katniss and Peeta, I'd say I miss them and I do a little bit but it's a rare occasion when I can have the house completely to myself to be able to do whatever I want right now I'm making nachos and watching an old show called the Brady bunch, Katniss's predictions were right I haven't seen much of Haymitch he only came by once yesterday to check in he's left me alone since then Effie on the other hand has been here almost everyday yesterday she made me pancakes and today she brought me cookies. My walking is getting better every day but I'm still using a cane, it makes me feel like an old lady but considering I was sure I'd be paralyzed for the rest of my life walking with a cane is a dream come true

1 week later, 

Peeta pov

Our visit with Annie has come to an end and now we're on the train headed back to 12 I look over at Katniss whose staring blankly out the window. "Everything okay" I ask her "Yeah" She says turning to look at me "I just miss Prim is all"  I can tell she's telling the truth ever since the war she doesn't like to be away from Prim for too long and it's been a week so she's for sure having some separation anxiety. We arrive in 12 and Katniss and I step off the train and thank the conductor, when we get home Prim greets us at the door and Katniss grabs her and hugs her tightly "I missed you little Duck" She says "Well she didn't miss us" I say jokingly "She was probably throwing parties all week"  "I missed you too" Prim says.  We settle back into our routine and Prim tells us about her week and we tell her about ours. We decide to watch a movie to end the night, we let Prim choose and she chooses Liar Liar, an old comedy about a man who's son wishes for a single day he can't tell a lie.  

Three weeks later

I wake up to find Katniss gone, "Katniss?" I call, I run towards the bathroom when I hear a retching sound coming from the door, "Katniss" I ask "Are you alright?"  "Katniss" I say knocking louder, "I need Prim" She mutters her voice sounding weak and scared. I run to Prim's room and knock on her door, she answers her hair matted from sleep "what's wrong, Peeta"? She asks "It's Katniss" I say "She needs you, something's wrong"  Prim follows me to the bathroom, and knocks on the door, "

Prim pov

I open the bathroom door to find Katniss leaning over the toilet her body trembling as she expels the contents of her stomach, I kneel beside her and hold her hair back, Peeta doesn't know this, but this isn't the first morning Katniss has woken up sick, it's been going on for a couple weeks, I have a hunch about what's going on, I stand up and open the cabinet taking out a pregnancy test, "No" She says "I can't be" "Katniss" I say in a hushed voice so Peeta doesn't hear us "You have all the symptoms, now if you're pregnant this will tell us"  She reluctantly takes the tests, and I offer to leave "No" she says "Stay" I nod and sit on the bathroom sink after Katniss takes the test we sit and wait for about five minutes, "You look" Katniss says "I can't"  I look at the test and it's just as I was expecting to see a plus sign than indicate what I knew all along,   "You're pregnant" I say.
