(Y/N)'s POV

I could tell that afternoon was one of the happiest of Percy's time at camp, but I couldn't get into the mood anymore.

Not even Grover's announcement that he was able to spend the rest of the summer with us at camp before resuming his quest for Pan could get rid of my anxiety.

His bosses at the Council of Cloven Elders were so impressed that he hadn't gotten himself killed and had cleared the way for future searchers, that they granted him a two-month furlough and a new set of pipe reeds.

As everyone chatted excitedly, I knew I had to talk to Chiron and Mr. D, and doing so as soon as possible would be the best choice.

I told Percy and the others that I needed to talk to Chiron about something. Luckily, they were too wrapped up in their own excitement to wonder what was going on, though Will shot me a look like he knew it had something to do with my passing out.

I walked up to Chiron. "I need to speak to you and Mr. D, privately."

He seemed surprised. "Now? Surely you want to enjoy your success."

"It's urgent. I... Please, Chiron. I don't know what to think."

Chiron looked worried and nodded. "Very well. Where is Mr. D, anyway?"

We found him at the Big House fast asleep on a sofa. Apparently he had skipped the entire chariot race.

Chiron was unamused. He shook Mr. D awake, who shot to his feet. "I'm up! I'm up!"

He made a confused face when he saw Chiron and I standing before him. "What do you want?"

"(Y/N) says he has something urgent to speak to us about," stated Chiron. "Right this moment."

Mr. D rolled his eyes. "And what's this about? You want to sit next to Peter Johnson at meals? Well, forget about it."

"No, it's not that." I really didn't want to deal with Mr. D's attitude right now. My brain was reeling from the prospect of meeting the Fates.

"Then what? Hurry up." Mr. D sat back on the sofa, looking annoyed.

I looked around to make sure no one was nearby before taking a deep breath. "I... During the chariot race, I was feeling sick."

"Go to a healer then!" grumbled Mr. D.

"Then I passed out."

Chiron raised an eyebrow. "You passed out?"

"Yes. I...I don't know if this was a dream or a vision or something else but I found myself before the Fates."

Both men were totally taken aback by what I just said. Mr. D sputtered. "Saw the Fates? Are you mentally well?"

"Mr. D, please," scolded Chiron before turning back to me. "Continue, (Y/N)."

"I'm not making this up," I said. "They started talking to me. They said things like I was an enigma and that they've been watching me."

"No, duh. They watch everyone," Mr. D muttered.

Chiron ignored him. "They called you an enigma?"

I nodded. "I don't know what they meant by that, but I'm sure it has something to do with my godly parent. They didn't say anything about that, but they, uh... They want me to meet with them...in the flesh."
