A week prior.

Y/N, Missy, Raj, and Vanessa were eating their dessert but Y/N was in a trance. He was still deciding whether or not he should read. The news was life-changing if he won but it also would have catastrophic consequences if he didn't.

Missy: You should read it?

Y/N: What if I fail?

Missy: What if you win? You're caught in a box right now almost like Schrodinger's cat, till you open the box you will find out if the cat's alive or dead. Just like your dreams of a Nobel Prize but you still have me no matter what happens.

Y/N: You're right, I should just read it and get it out of the way.

Y/N read the letter but his face remained blank, not giving any clues away.

Y/N: I guess you can tell what I'm feeling from the look on my face.

Missy: No, we don't.

Raj: Just tell us you monster. Am I going to be friends with a Nobel Winner?

Y/N: Didn't you see me pinch myself?

Missy: You won.

Y/N: I did. I've won the Nobel Prize.

Raj hugged him as Missy looked annoyed. Y/N patted his back trying to end the hug.

Raj: I'm so happy for you. You won the Nobel. I never thought I would get to say that to my friend. Congratulations.

Y/N: Thank you, Raj, it means a lot but can I celebrate with my fiancée?

Raj: Oh yeah. Sorry. (He broke up the hug and took a step back) I'm going to get a microphone so we can inform everybody.

Y/N: Please don't. (He didn't listen and just left) And he's gone.

Vanessa: (Signs) What's going on?

Y/N: (Signs) I won the Nobel.

Vanessa: (Signs) That's amazing.

Y/N: (Signs) I know I never thought I would get to sign that.

Vanessa hugged him before breaking it up and pointing at Missy who was about to jump at him. Y/N turned to Missy who hugged him tightly and said through baited breaths.

Missy: I'm so happy for you. You finally did it.

Y/N: I did it. This is the greatest moment of my life.

Missy: I'll allow it, because we haven't got married yet.

Y/N: It's perfect. I need to read it again. I've waited twenty-six years for these words and now I finally get to hear them. (He read from his phone.) "Y/N L/N, you have not." Oops, I misread the email. Didn't see the not.

Missy: So?

Y/N: I have not won the Nobel Prize.

Raj started to sing We Are The Champions by Queen for the whole restaurant to hear.

Raj: We are the champions. (Missy and Vanessa tried to get him to cut it off but he kept singing.) We are the champions. No time for losers. 'Cause we are the champions of the world.

Missy: Cut it out!

Y/N was still coming to terms with what happened as he contemplated what it meant for his future.

The Present. In the 4A apartment.
