•Mermish•Months passed, it was now nearing the summer months once again, and Morgana's birthday was just around the corner. The founders had planned a special surprise for her as well. With Merlin's help, see they had found one of her dearest friends.
Today though, Salazar was going to be testing her Occlumency defenses. Morgana had been going back to her and Sal's secret place - she had dubbed it as the 'Chamber of Secrets' - every other day to work on her shields. She was very excited for Sal to check their strength. She had added many magical and mundane defenses by way of magical creatures and hidden traps, magical Parsel puzzles and Riddle's with exact phrasing. The young witch had even gone as far as putting her cottage and forest onto an isolated island, surrounded by a roiling sea that was filled with sidhe, water dragons, merfolk, grindelows and more. The air over the water wasn't much better. It had dementors and harpies flying everywhere. The only way across was an invisible tunnel bridge that could only be revealed by a Parseltongue code word, one that she was certain even Salazar himself would never think to use to access her memories. Sitting across from her mentor, she prepared for what was sure to be an arduous lesson. Sal gave her no warning as his assault on her mind began.
Entering her mind was intriguing. Upon first look, he appeared to just be in a forest. Not as impressive as he thought her mind would be but first impressions can be deceiving. With a little exploration Sal found himself to be stuck on a small island that barely counted as one with nothing but empty trees and foliage. Looking around the edges of the space he was in, he couldn't for the life of him find a boat or anything along those lines.
After twenty minutes of looking the founder of the snake pit decided to use a revealing charm. Finally he saw the outline of a bridge from the west side of his location. He tried to step onto the bridge, only to discover, that while he could find the outline, it didn't technically exist yet. 'Clever Little Serpent' he thought. Casting the revealing charm in Parsel didn't work either and Salazar could say with certainty that he was proud of her progress. This was only her first line of defense, and he had already been there for the better part of an hour. Choosing to try and surprise her, he dove into her turbulent sea. When there he found he was accosted by Merfolk that attacked him for not knowing the correct phrase for safe travels, water dragons and sprites that wanted to drag him deeper, grindelows that served to distract him and make his sense of direction need a hard reset. Surfacing again, Salazar found himself coming out of a calm watered pond in the center of her beginning island again.
Morgana felt as he pulled back from her mind and inhaled a deep breath of relief. Being sat there for an hour or so to let someone attempt to penetrate her mind was exhausting. § Good work, Little Serpent. I couldn't find a way to bypass your first defense. It is very cleverly set up. Next, we go into your mind together and I review your other defenses. But that will be another day. I am proud of you, and all you have achieved.§
Morgana allowed her face to break into a bright beaming smile as she leapt into her Mentors arms giggling with glee. Her father figure was proud of her, and it was the best feeling in the world.
Weeks later, Morgana's sixth birthday dawned bright and clear. The sun filtered through the arched windows of her room in the founders wing of Hogwarts Castle, casting warm golden rays that danced across the floor. She woke up to the sound of soft footfalls and the excited chatter of her personal elves who had come to wish her well.
She quickly got dressed in a flowing emerald green dress, embroidered with intricate silver runes, a gift from Rowena for today. The fabric shimmered in the light, and it made her feel like a princess once more. As Morgana stepped out of her room and made her way to the kitchens, the scent of freshly baked bread and cakes wafted through the castle, mixing with the rich aroma of flowers that adorned every corner.
