The door creaked open, revealing a darkened room. Morgana felt a gust of warm, musty air brush past her face. The scent of old wood and dust filled her nostrils as she stepped cautiously into the room, her wand raised, casting a faint light. Her heart was pounding in her chest, echoing the urgency of the moment. Anthony was right beside her, his wand also out, his eyes scanning the shadows.

Hermione and Draco quickly followed, stepping out to the sides slightly to cover more ground. A low growl rumbled through the darkness, and Morgana’s breath hitched as she caught sight of the massive, three-headed dog sitting in the center of the room. Its eyes gleamed in the dim light, each of its heads looking in a different direction, alert and ready.

“That’s… that’s the Cerberus?,” Draco whispered in question, his voice barely audible. “He’s a big dog. Didn't you say something about him guarding something important…?”

Morgana nodded, her mind racing. On their way to the corridor she had explained about the Cerberus and that their used as guards, but she didn't specify what, only that it was important. She knew that they needed music to settle him down, or they’d never get past. Her eyes scanned the room, searching for anything that could help. The only sound was the low, continuous growl from the hound, echoing off the stone walls.

Anthony nudged Morgana, his voice low and urgent. “Do you know any music charms? Something to put him to sleep?”

Morgana shook her head. “No, but…”

Taking a step forward Morgana reached deep into her heart and pour her magic into a song, one that Rowena herself had once sung to her....

Now the sun is sleeping
And the moon shines overhead
Come magic creatures creeping
Around your little bed
But be not afraid my child
For you are their creator
Out of your dreams they're styled
As beautiful as their maker
They dance about on silent feet
As lightly as a feather
In rhythm with the unheard beat
Then bowing all together

And all the while I watch you
Amazed by your perfection
No length I wouldn't go to
To give you my protection
I wonder if you know
How much you mean to me
This love that through me flows
Is deeper than the sea
I soar every time you smile
And worry whenever you cry
So here I shall stay a while
Just to be by your side

But all too soon the dawn arrives
And hence the spell is breaking
Your creature friends must say goodbye
Before you are awaking
One final dance and then they're gone
Beyond this world once more
The echo of their parting song
Now fades out through the door
Yet in their wake, birds start to sing
To ease you from sleep
So delay no more my young sweetling
The world is at your feet

The first few notes were shaky, but the longer that Morgana sang, the stronger and more soothing her lullaby became. The Cerberus’s growls subsided, his eyes drooping, each head swaying slightly. Her magic powered music filled the room, soft and lilting, wrapping around them like a comforting blanket. Slowly, the massive dog slumped to the ground, all three heads resting on its paws, its breathing deep and even.

Anthony let out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. “Okay,” he whispered. “Now we move quickly.”

The group stepped cautiously around the slumbering dog, their footsteps light and careful. Morgana’s eyes fell on the trapdoor beneath the paws of the massive hound, its edges just visible. “There,” she pointed. “We need to open it.”
