The winter break had just begun, blanketing Hogwarts in a serene layer of snow. The castle's turrets and spires glittered with frost, and the Great Hall was adorned with twinkling fairy lights and evergreens. Despite the festive atmosphere, Morgana and Anthony Potter were feeling a pang of disappointment. With both of their parents, James and Lily, being professors, they were staying at Hogwarts for Yule.
However, hope glimmered in the form of an elegant, silver-embossed invitation from Draco, inviting the twins to the Malfoy Yule Gala. The thought of attending the grand event thrilled them both.
Morgana and Anthony exchanged determined looks. "We have to go," Anthony said, his eyes shining with excitement.
Morgana nodded in agreement. "Absolutely. Let's split up and make our case. You go ask Dad, and I'll talk to Sirius and Remus."
"Deal," Anthony agreed, already heading towards their father's office.
Morgana made her way to the Marauder Den (Sirius and Remus' private rooms), where she knew Sirius and Remus would be lounging by the fire. As she entered, the familiar warmth and the sound of crackling logs greeted her. Sirius looked up from his conversation with Remus and grinned.
"Hey, pup! What brings you here?" Sirius asked, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
Morgana took a deep breath, launching into her request. "Draco invited Anthony and me to the Malfoy Yule Gala this year. We really want to go, but we need someone to take us."
Remus raised a suspicious eyebrow, his expression thoughtful and wary. "And you thought of us?"
Morgana nodded eagerly, her eyes widening and her lower lip jutting out in an exaggerated pout. "Of course! You two are the best. Please, can you take us?" She added an extra layer of pleading to her expression, knowing Sirius's weakness for her puppy-dog eyes.
Sirius chuckled, shaking his head, while Remus just looked done as Sirius replied. "How can we say no to that face? Of course, we'll take you."
Morgana's face lit up with a bright and luminous smile. "Thank you! Now I just need to make sure Dad agrees."
Meanwhile
Anthony reached his father's office and knocked on the door. James looked up from his desk, a pile of parchment in front of him, and smiled warmly. "Come in, Anthony."
"Dad, I have a favor to ask," Anthony began, his voice hopeful. "Draco invited Morgana and me to the Malfoy Yule Gala, and we would really like to go. Sirius and Remus have agreed to take us, but we need your permission."
James leaned back in his chair, considering the request. "The Malfoy Yule Gala, huh? It's quite the event." He frowned slightly, tapping his fingers on the desk. "I do have some concerns about the crowd there, especially given the Malfoy family's reputation. But as long as Sirius and Remus are going with you, I don't see why not."
Anthony's grin mirrored his sister's earlier excitement. "Thanks, Dad! You're the best! This is going to be amazing. We'll be on our best behavior, I promise."
Back in the Den, Morgana was just finishing her conversation with Sirius and Remus when Anthony burst in, positively beaming. "Dad said yes!"
Morgana hugged her brother, their excitement bubbling over, as they jumped up and down together. "We're going to the Gala!"
Sirius and Remus exchanged amused and exasperated glances. "Looks like we'll need to get ready for a night of fancy dress and high society," Remus remarked wistfully, smoothing the wrinkles on his worn sweater.
Sirius grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Indeed. Let's make it a night to remember. We haven't had a good night out in ages, Moony."
With the permission granted and their godfathers on board, Morgana and Anthony felt a rush of anticipation. The Malfoy Yule Gala promised to be a highlight of their holiday, and they couldn't wait to see what the Gala night would hold in store for them.
