Who's "doc"? Frisk pondered in their mind. They didn't know much doctors, Alphys being the only one who came to their mind instantly.
Who else could possibly be referred to by Sans as "doc"?
Frisk exited the lab wondering whether they should have entered in the first place and what pursuing information will cause.

"Thanks for arriving so quickly on such short notice."
Asgore was tending to his flowers. To anyone else, this motion would just be a regular activity he did on a day to day basis. Sans, however, knew what it meant. When you randomly come and see him and he's gardening, it didn't mean anything at all. But when he invites you, and is expecting you, and yet he's still gardening, it meant he was nervous or anxious. He was trying to distract himself, or maybe calm himself down.
Sans took immediate notice of this.
"why wouldn't i?" Sans replied. It wasn't a response which invited an immediate follow-up. Instead it was a response which would force Asgore to get straight to the point. Sans had things to do, and therefore wanted this conversation to end quickly, but of course he wouldn't say such thing to his king.
"Sans." Asgore started. He reached for some fertiliser. He was outside, at the back of his flower shop. Being run by the king, it was massively popular among monsters to the point where he would hire multiple staff, but also keep a cosy atmosphere.
"Do the monsters still need a king?" He asked. He never once turned to Sans. "As m-"
"yeah yeah, best judgement I assume."
Sans answered in a manner he didn't expect from himself towards the king. For some odd reason, he found himself in a weirdly bad mood and this conversation was easily readable and he didn't like where it was going.
"Does retirement seem like a good idea to you?""Such abilities are why I'm talking to you out of everyone."
Sans didn't like Asgore's response. He hoped he looked into it to far.
"With respect, what the hell do you even do anymore?" Sans began. He attempted to compose himself but couldn't help himself and continued to vocally express his thoughts. "You've offloaded your political duties to countless others, you're practically just a mascot for the underground." Sans had more to say, but held himself back this time.
There was a pause whilst Asgore waited to see whether Sans would continue. He finally turned around.
He seemed tired, fatigued even. And yet he still had a warm smile.
"Being king, whether I actively use this title to act, has drawbacks."
"I'm a target for humans to act upon in a way to affect all of monsterkind."
"I'm a target for the people who hate on us, Sans." He never dropped his polite, warm smile. Sans didn't move in the slightest.
"There's no need for a King. We've been here for over a year. It's time to let the humans rule over us."
Sans didn't like this. But he didn't protest. He didn't have the energy and Asgore had clearly already made his mind up.
"whatever is best, my king." Sans made his own opinions clear, still.
He left quickly.

Alphys and Undyne lived together. It was a pretty big house, consisting of multiple bedrooms and a large space out back that was turned into a mini-lab of sorts. It was more for show, though, as Alphys rarely started new projects without motive or reason. Still, she tinkered with certain projects purely for fun.
