It was so cold.
For some reason, this feeling... the sensation of absolutely nothingness. So strange... yet familiar.
Chara wanted to move, to feel something. Something that would tell them why everything felt like it had happened before. There was no reset, no movement in time. No movement... at all.
"E-EXTRACT.... IT." The static voice was scratchy and slow. Pain laced the words spoken.
And then, the walls caved in. Closer and closer, slowly and jagged. They moved and stopped, before starting the cycle again.
Frisk, do something. I just don't understand what I'm feeling.
Frisk tried to move, but felt that weight of blue magic pulling them back whenever they struggled. Their SOUL glowed infront of them. It wasn't fully blue, like when the brothers used the magic. Rather, it only turned blue when they attempted to move. Frisk saw the red, determined glow shine brighter than ever.
"Extraction..." They remembered. It was going to take their Determination.
"Can't let that happen..."
But there was nothing to do.
And then, the black that imprisoned them shaked and writhed, twisting and turning in a way that threw Frisk around like a ragdoll. They felt heat from outside, threatening to break through.
From outside, Asgore shot at the massive orb casting a dark shadow onto the field. By now, plenty of monsters had wandered outside to find out the source of the darkness.
VOID was on the ground, but the red glow in their eyes lighted up and glowed even brighter. It wouldn't die, not when it had a prime opportunity to get what it desired most. It used its free hand to tug at the orb, closing it down until it reached the SOUL. Unfortunately for VOID, the process was slow and its magic supply was hindered by the damage dealt to it.
Asgore's fire further delayed the extraction by interfering with the collapsing VOID substance. It clearly reacted furiously with fire and jerked away from it, losing the orb shape and twisting the orb into a much more irregular shape. Still, it did nothing to free the human child. The substance was thick, any non-fire projectile was bounced back and did nothing to pierce.
They considered trying to attack VOID, but that would do nothing. If they were to kill VOID, then nothing could be done to remove the orb and free Frisk. VOID substance wasn't magic and judging from the motionless monster things from before, wouldn't dissipate when losing a magic source.
"W-wheres my brother?" Papyrus noticed the lack of a Sans in the group. They had long since seen VOID's state and assumed it was Sans's doing, but hadn't spotted him just yet.
VOID evidently heard what Papyrus said and franticly searched the field. It was the first to notice the motionless, collapsed skeleton in the fields. It stayed silent, moving its shaking magic hand in the direction of the skeleton. Once aligned, a single strand of magic was held in the center. The same attack that was hurled toward Sans multiple times prior.
It was the lack of movement from the orb, as VOID had diverted its attention to Sans, that notified the trio that VOID was doing something else. Papyrus was first to notice VOID's attack, and where it was heading.
"SANS!" He screamed using the loudest sound he had ever produced. Papyrus wouldn't just stand there, he thought fast. He knew he would never be able to intercept the bullet in time, and instead tugged on Sans SOUL. Papyrus had never pulled on someone's SOUL so harshly, not even on VOID, but he knew the magic had to be harsh in order to move Sans to safely.
