Chapter 14
Aiden POV
I gathered all my friends and my brother Aric in the living room. The tension was palpable, and I knew we had to take action to deal with Emily's stalking.
"Alright, everyone," I began, trying to keep my voice steady. "I need your help to catch Emily following me. She's been lurking around, and it's getting out of hand."
Aric leaned against the wall, arms crossed, listening intently. Jace and Conall exchanged a look, ready for the task ahead.
"So, here's the plan," I continued. "Conall and Jace, you two will plant the seed. Have a conversation in the food hall, making sure Emily can overhear. Mention that Aric and I will be meeting at a specific place."
Jace grinned, tossing a football from hand to hand. "Got it. We'll make it sound convincing."
"Lena and Tyler," I said, turning to them, "you two will be on the lookout for Emily. Track her whereabouts and let us know if she takes the bait."
Lena nodded, a determined look on her face. "We'll make sure she's not out of our sight."
"And Aric and I will be in the said place," I concluded. "We'll be waiting to see if she shows up."
Aric clapped me on the shoulder. "We've got this. Let's catch her in the act."
With the plan set, everyone moved into position. Conall and Jace headed to the food hall, finding a table in a central spot where they could easily be overheard. They started a casual conversation, gradually leading into the topic I had set for them.
"You know, Aric and Aiden mentioned they'll be at the clearing by the old oak tree this evening," Jace said, making sure his voice carried just enough to be overheard by anyone nearby.
"Yeah, they've got some training to do," Conall added, playing along perfectly.
Meanwhile, Lena and Tyler positioned themselves strategically around the food hall, keeping an eye out for Emily. It didn't take long before Lena spotted her, lingering near the entrance, clearly trying to listen in on the conversation.
"She's here," Lena mind-linked the group. "She's listening."
Tyler nodded subtly, confirming her observation. "We'll keep an eye on her."
As the plan progressed, Aric and I made our way to the clearing by the old oak tree. We settled in, making it look like we were preparing for a training session.
"Do you think this will work?" Aric asked, glancing around the clearing.
"It has to," I replied, determination in my voice. "We need to put an end to this."
Back at the food hall, Emily's eyes widened slightly as she overheard Conall and Jace's conversation. She quickly made her way out of the hall, heading in the direction of the clearing.
"She's on the move," Tyler informed the group. "Heading towards the clearing."
Lena followed at a distance, keeping Emily in her sight. "I'll make sure she doesn't lose us."
As Emily approached the clearing, Aric and I stood ready, hidden behind some bushes. We watched as she cautiously made her way closer, her eyes scanning the area.
When she was close enough, I stepped out, my voice firm. "Emily, we know you've been following me."
She froze, shock and guilt written on her face. "Aiden, I—"
Aric stepped out beside me, crossing his arms. "This has to stop, Emily. You can't keep doing this."
Emily's expression twisted with anger and desperation. "How dare you leave me, Aiden! Don't you know what it's been like for me? We are supposed to be together forever. You said it yourself! We are mates, and you know it! I'm making sure no other girl touches you!"
