Chapter 13

Aric POV

As we walked through the grocery store, grabbing food for the house, Aiden was being his usual self, piling junk food into the cart. I tried to be discreet, shoving the unhealthy snacks back onto the shelf when he wasn't looking.

We turned down the snack aisle, and he tossed a bag of chips into the cart. I waited until he was distracted by something on the other side and quickly slipped the chips back onto the shelf. This little game continued for a few more aisles until, finally, he caught me in the act.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing?" Aiden asked, narrowing his eyes at me.

"Just trying to keep us from turning into junk food addicts," I replied, grinning.

He rolled his eyes and grabbed the bag of chips again. "Come on, man. We need some balance in our lives."

"Balance, sure. But we don't need to buy the whole snack aisle," I countered, shaking my head.

Aiden chuckled, relenting a little. "Alright, fine. But I'm keeping these chips."

"Deal," I said, laughing. "Just remember, moderation."

We continued our shopping, filling the cart with a better mix of healthy foods and a few indulgent snacks.

As we reached the coffee aisle, I was searching for my favorite brand when Aiden suddenly screamed like a little girl and hid behind me, pulling me away from the shelf.

"What are you doing?" I asked, getting annoyed.

"She's here..." he whispered, hiding behind me and pointing toward Emily, who was a few aisles away.

"Really? Come on, man," I said, exasperated. "You're overreacting. She's probably just shopping like the rest of us."

Aiden shook his head frantically. "No, Aric. She's been stalking me. I've seen her everywhere I go for the past couple of days since I gathered my things from her house."

I furrowed my brow.
"Remember, I told you how she acted when I went to get my things, trying to seduce me," He added.

I glanced over at Emily, who was casually browsing the shelves, seemingly unaware of our presence. "Are you sure? It looks like she's just picking up groceries."

Aiden's grip tightened on my arm. "I'm telling you, she's following me. She shows up at my gym, my favorite coffee shop, even outside our house. It's freaking me out."

I sighed, trying to be patient. "Alright, let's just avoid her for now and finish our shopping. We can talk about this more at home."

We maneuvered our cart down different aisles, making sure to keep our distance from Emily. Every now and then, Aiden would glance nervously over his shoulder, checking to see if she was following us. I tried to stay focused on our grocery list, but Aiden's paranoia was starting to get to me.

As we reached the produce section, I picked up some fresh vegetables while Aiden scanned the area. "She's still over by the dairy," he muttered.

"Just keep calm," I said, trying to reassure him. "We'll be out of here soon."

We continued to grab what we needed, weaving through the aisles and avoiding Emily. At one point, we nearly ran into her, but I quickly steered us in the opposite direction, hoping she wouldn't notice.

Finally, we made our way to the checkout. I could see the tension in Aiden's shoulders start to ease as we got closer to the exit. We loaded our items onto the conveyor belt, trying to act natural.
