Chapter 19

Aric POV

The morning after my 21st birthday, I woke up on the couch in our living room, feeling a bit groggy from the night before. Alisha was still asleep next to me, her head resting on my chest. The night had been a whirlwind of excitement, celebrated at our favorite spot.

I carefully extricated myself from beneath Alisha, trying not to wake her. Stretching, I walked towards the kitchen to get some water. As I passed by our bedroom, I heard the sound of quiet conversation and laughter. It seemed like Aiden and Jenna were already awake.

Grabbing a glass of water, I leaned against the counter, reflecting on the significance of the past night. Turning 21 meant we were now fully recognized as adults in the pack. It also meant the looming decision about who would take on the role of Alpha was closer than ever.

As I sipped my water, Alisha stirred on the couch, blinking sleepily at me. "Morning," she said, her voice still groggy.

"Morning," I replied with a smile. "Did you sleep well?"

She nodded, stretching her arms above her head. "Yeah, thanks for last night. It was fun." She winked at me.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it," I said, setting my glass down and walking back over to her. "Hungry?"

"Actually, I need to get back home," she said, looking around for her clothes that we had thrown off last night.

I helped her gather her things, handing her each piece with a smile. As she walked out the door, she turned and gave me a quick kiss. "Bye, Aric."

"Bye, Alisha," I replied, watching as she left.

A moment later, Jenna and Aiden walked out of his room. Aiden had a content look on his face. "Morning," Aiden said, giving me a knowing grin.

"Morning," I replied, nodding to Jenna. "Leaving already?"

"Yeah, I've got some things to take care of today," Jenna said, smiling. "Thanks for last night, Aiden. I had a great time."

"Anytime," Aiden replied, walking her to the door. "See you soon?"

"Definitely," Jenna said before giving him a quick kiss and heading out.

Once the door closed, Aiden turned to me, still grinning. "So, how was your night?"

"Pretty great," I admitted, leaning against the counter. "I can definitely say she knew her way around a blow job." I added, chuckling.

"But you," I said, pointing at him. "From what we heard, you definitely got some action."

"It's not like we didn't hear you too," he retorted, pouring a cup of coffee. "Plus, stick to our rules—you know not to talk about our flings the next morning."

I laughed, raising my hands in mock surrender. "Alright, alright. You're right. Just got carried away."

Aiden took a sip of his coffee, shaking his head with a smile. "It was a good night, though. We both needed that. What I will say is that she told me she only fucked one person before."

"Dude, good luck getting her to leave you alone now," I said, laughing.

"Plus, you saved her from drowning yesterday. You're her hero," I teased him. "But, on a real note, I felt you looking to see if she was your mate when you pulled her into your lap, after you wrapped her in the towel."

"Wait, you could feel me looking to see if she was my mate?" Aiden asked, his eyes widening.

"Yeah..." I said slowly, giving him a serious look. "We've always had that connection, haven't we? It's like I can sense what you're feeling sometimes."
