Chapter 29

Aiden POV

As the sun shone through the curtains, a pounding headache from last night's drinking ached, making me not want to get up. I snuggled more into something I was holding. Did Aric sleep in the bed with me? My mind wandered, but when I felt the body, it was small and had curves.

"Wow, you really like to snuggle," a voice cut through the air, cute and unexpected.

Shit, shit, shit, I thought, adjusting my eyes and trying to remember how I got here. I opened my eyes fully and saw a girl with dark hair and striking green eyes looking at me with a playful smile.

"Avery?" I croaked, my voice thick with confusion and sleep.

"Morning," she said, still smiling. "You don't remember last night, do you?"

I racked my brain, trying to piece together the events after we visited that fancy club. Flashes of us talking, dancing, and maybe a few more drinks than I intended came back to me.

"I'm sorry," I said, sitting up quickly and feeling the room spin a little. "I didn't mean to... I mean, I don't usually..."

Avery laughed softly, putting a hand on my arm. "Relax. We had fun, and you were quite the gentleman until things got a little wild."

"Where's Aric?" I asked, concern creeping into my voice.

"He walked in on us having sex and you yelled out something about rules," Avery said, looking a bit puzzled. "Which I don't really understand."

I felt my face heat up with embarrassment. "Oh, that. Our rule is about not questioning or asking about who we are fucking. We try to respect each other's privacy."

Avery's expression softened with understanding. "I see. Well, if it helps, I had a great time. But I can see why you'd want to stick to your rules."

Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Aric's voice called out, "Hey, you up? We need to get going soon."

Avery and I exchanged a quick look. "Just a minute!" I called back.

She quickly gathered her things and headed for the door. "I'll see you around," she said with a wink before slipping out.

I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. Aric entered the room, looking puzzled. "Everything okay?"

"Yeah," I said, rubbing my temples. "Just a rough night. Give me a few minutes to get ready."

He nodded, still looking curious but not pressing further. As he walked into the bathroom, I mentally kicked myself for losing control.

I sat on the bed, staring out at the city, when Aric came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. "Look, Avery told me I called out rules last night, but what the fuck happened?"

Aric sighed hard and sat at the end of his bed. "We both gave in to those girls."

I chuckled. "They were twins. Something we haven't done before."

Aric, however, was visibly upset. "Yeah, but I'm mad at myself for allowing that side of me to come out again. She was so alluring, beautiful, and persistent, but it still doesn't excuse what happened."

I nodded, feeling the same way through our bond. "I thought that after our dancing, I'd just let you handle your own self. I do remember asking you to stop kissing Autumn, but you were way too into her. After we left you and Autumn, Avery and I got more drinks. After that, I ended up taking her to our room."

Aric sighed deeply, the memories clearly weighing on him. "If you didn't sleep with Autumn here, where did you guys sleep?" I asked.

I could tell Aric was kicking himself. He chuckled softly. "I bought a second hotel room for the night."
