Y/n stood with Leo, her eyes scanning the smoke-filled training grounds.

Gobber's voice boomed, "Today is about teamwork. Work together and you might survive." The double-wide door blasted open, and a cloud of smoke engulfed the ring, swirling around the paired-up teens. Astrid with Ruffnut. Snotlout with Tuffnut. Fishlegs with Hiccup. All carried buckets of water, poised to throw them.

"Now, a wet dragon head can't light its fire. The Hideous Zippleback is extra tricky. One head breathes gas, and the other headlights it. Your job is to know which is which," Gobber continued.

Y/n turned to Leo, whispering, "Stay close and listen carefully. We need to know which head is which." Leo nodded, his eyes serious.

The smoke encircled them, cutting them off from each other. The teens listened and watched for any sign of the dragon.

Fishlegs muttered to himself, "Razor sharp, serrated teeth that inject venom for pre-digestion. Prefers ambush attack, crushing its victims in its..."

Hiccup, tense and focused, snapped, "Will you please stop that?"

Y/n exchanged a look with Leo, who rolled his eyes. "Fishlegs and his facts," Leo whispered, shaking his head.

Snotlout and Tuffnut moved nervously through the fog, back to back. Snotlout sang to himself to calm his nerves. "If that dragon shows either of his faces, I'm gonna--" He spotted an approaching shape and, terrified, yelled, "--There!" Snotlout and Tuffnut hurled their water into the fog.

"Hey!" Astrid's voice cut through the smoke.

"It's us, idiots," Ruffnut added, sounding annoyed.

Astrid and Ruffnut were soaked. "Your butts are getting bigger. We thought you were a dragon," Tuffnut said, shrugging.

"Not that there's anything wrong with a dragon-esque figure," Snotlout added quickly, only to receive an elbow to the face from Astrid. Ruffnut dropped Tuffnut with a punch to the throat.

Y/n couldn't help but snicker, whispering to Leo, "Typical Snotlout. Always finding a way to get himself into trouble."

Leo grinned, then turned serious. "Let's focus. We can't afford to mess up."

Astrid's voice rang out, "Wait." They froze in place, but it was too late. A tail swept out of the fog, knocking them down. Their buckets spilled, water splashing everywhere.

"Oh, I'm hurt. I am very much hurt," Tuffnut groaned dramatically, lying on the ground.

"Chances of survival are dwindling into single digits now..." Fishlegs muttered, his voice tinged with panic.

"Look out!" Hiccup shouted, pointing as a Zippleback head emerged from the smoke. Fishlegs reacted instinctively, hurling his water at it and completely dousing the head. The dragon leered, opening its mouth to spew gas into the area.

"Oh. Wrong head," Fishlegs realized as gas flowed around their legs, and he fled in a panic.

"Fishlegs!" Gobber called out, frustration evident in his tone. A clicking sound came from behind them, and sparks flashed in the smoke.

"Now, Hiccup!" Gobber urged. The other head of the Zippleback swept out of the smoke. Hiccup hurled his water with all his might, but it fell short of the dragon's sparking mouth. The dragon grinned, savoring the kill.

"Oh, come on!" Hiccup exclaimed in frustration.

"RUN, HICCUP!" Gobber shouted, covering his eyes.

The Zippleback hesitated, sniffing the air. Then, to everyone's astonishment, it retreated. The teens got to their feet, watching in awe as Gobber peeked through his fingers to see the dragon backing away from Hiccup.
