Maybe They Were Right

Chris was up early this morning, doing some artwork outside before getting Royalty up for school. His mom ,Joyce, was dropping her off today since Chris had a meeting this morning. Once he was comfortable with a stopping point, he went to get Royalty up and dressed for school. He unplugged his phone and saw that there was a voicemail from Royalty's school that he didn't see yesterday since he wasn't on his phone when they got home.

"Hello Mr. Brown this is Mr.Daniels, the principal at Bright Elementary School. I am calling to notify you of Royalty's behavior yesterday. She was taken out of recess for pushing a student and her teacher Ms.Wright was notified. This is your daughter's first incident so she won't be any serious trouble, but the next time you will have to come and pick her up early. Have a great day and call this number if you have any questions." Chris sighed and tossed his phone to the side and went to Royalty's room, to see her putting on her shoes.

"Why didn't you tell me you pushed someone at school yesterday?" Royalty stared at Chris and shrugged, not wanting to say anything. "Did Ms. Wright talk to you?" Royalty nodded her head. "Your grandma should be here in a little while so go on downstairs and get something to eat." Royalty ran downstairs and Chris went back to his room to text Karina.

How do I go about setting up a parent teacher meeting with you?

Karina: good morning! and we can schedule one right now. What time works with you?
7:46 am

Right after school.

Karina: okay that works! I'll make sure to notify the principal as well, just to cut out any biases.

Chris didn't appreciate Karina not telling him what happened yesterday. Royalty is a child and that's expected to not tell your parents when you get in trouble, but as the teacher she should've said something. Joyce came and picked up Royalty and dropped her off at school. Before Karina started teaching, she called the principal's office to tell him about the parent teacher meeting.

"Good morning Mr.Daniels, Mr. Brown contacted me about a parent teacher meeting and I wanted to see if you were available to also attend the meeting."

"Hey good morning Karina! And yes I believe I am. He must've contacted you about the voicemail I sent him yesterday." Karina scrunched up her face in confusion.

"What voicemail?"

"I told him about Royalty's little incident yesterday and I'm sure he just wants more information on what happened."

"Ohhhh okay. Well he's coming right after school."

"Okay i'll be down there." They hung up the phone and Karina began to teach. She wasn't too worried about the meeting with Chris. They were pretty cool and cordial, so whatever it was that Chris wanted to say she figured it wouldn't be anything to be worried about.

It was the end of the day and Karina and Royalty were working on homework while they waited on Chris. Chris knocked on the door and they both looked up and smiled.
