Maybe They Were Right

"Royalty, you got your stuff?" Karina asked as she got her things together.

"Yes. Can I have a snack?"

"You can but if you get a snack now then you won't get a snack when I get to the store...so it's up to you." Royalty thought for a moment.

"I'll wait." Karina locked her classroom and they left the school. Joyce was back in Virginia and Chris was at home with Aeko and Lovely so he couldn't get Royalty. Of course Royalty was excited to ride with Karina and spend some time with her.

"Alright kiddo, is your seatbelt on?" Royalty nodded and Karina pulled off. While the two shopped at the grocery store and had girl time, Chris was at his home with Diamond, Lovely, and Aeko.

"Thank you for bringing Lovely back." Chris said as she held Lovely. It had been a while since he had seen Lovely or Diamond since her parents didn't live in California. He hated not being there for Lovely like he was for Royalty and Aeko, so Chris started looking for apartments for Diamond and Lovely so they could move to California.

"Of course. You're her dad." Diamond said as she sat beside Chris and the baby. "How you been?"

"I been good. Working and being a dad. How you been?"

"I've been good. Doing the same as you." She chuckled and scrolled on her phone. Chris stared at her and licked his lips. Diamond had on a strapless body suit and tennis shoes and her hair was in a messy ponytail. Chris would be lying if he said he wasn't still attracted to her. "What you looking at?"

"You." He said with a smile. Diamond shook her head and got off the couch.

"Some things will never change." Chris put Lovely in the bassinet and followed Diamond.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means you and Karina are together."

"All I said was that I was looking at you...don't flatter yourself too much." Chris chuckled and grabbed a bottle of water.

"Oh please, Chris." Diamond scoffed and chuckled. "You are full of shit." She whispered just in case Aeko was around them.

"I'm full of shit but you been staring at me since you been here too." Chris stepped to her closely and he could tell Diamond was getting nervous. Chris had no intentions in doing anything with Diamond, he just liked to mess with her. Diamond looked up at him and kissed him. Chris was taken aback but he eventually kissed back. They were stopped by a knock at the door, causing Chris to slightly push Diamond back. He wiped his mouth and opened the door to see Royalty and Karina.

"Hey! I got everything but the cookies you wanted. The store didn't have anymore." Karina said. Chris grabbed the groceries from her and put them in the kitchen. Diamond quickly walked back to the living room where Lovely was.

"That's fine. Wassup Ro!" He said loudly to Royalty as she ran in.

"Hey daddy! Where's Lovely?"

"Living room." Royalty ran straight to the living room. "How was your day?" He asked Karina.

"It was good. How's Diamond and the baby?" She asked.

"They good." Chris said.

"That's good. Well i'm about to go home. I will see you later." Karina hugged him and Chris kissed her on the cheek instead of her lips. "See you later everyone!" She said and everyone said bye, including Diamond. Chris walked her to her car and watched her drive off. He ran his hands down his face and shook his head.

"Why the fuck would you kiss her...well actually she kissed me...but I was flirting with her. Imma just tell Karina...it was just a kiss." Chris said to himself. "Fuck!" He said and he went into the house.

Karina was back home and taking a shower. She was tired and wanted to relax. She moisturized her body and put on some shorts and a tank top. She grabbed her phone and went downstairs to pop some popcorn and watch a movie. Her phone rang and it was Quady but she declined. Soon there was a knock at her door. She looked through the peephole and saw Quady.

"What are you doing here?" She opened the door and  Quady walked in.

"Why you ain't answer my call?" He said as he went to her fridge and grabbed a bottle of water. Karina was used to Quady not giving a damn.

"Because I didn't want to talk. Why call if you were already at my home?"

"Cause if you would have answered I would've told you that I was here...no surprises." He shrugged his shoulders. "So what's up with you and Chris Brown? When that happen? and i'm asking as a friend not as your ex."

"Why does it matter?"

"Cause Chris not even your type and you not his type either...not to be rude I'm just pointing out a pattern on his end." He sipped his water and she rolled her eyes.

"Quady...I don't have a type." He smacked his lips and smirked.

"You must've forgotten that the two niggas you dated before me were dark skin and tall too." He laughed and Karina just stared at him. "Listen i'm not hating, I'm just saying."

"Saying what?"

"I care about you and yea I know I wasn't on shit the last few months we were together...but I don't want to see you hurt. I was your bestfriend at one point." Quady said. Karina knew he meant well and she appreciated it more than she was annoyed with him. There was another knock at the door and before she could open the door herself, the person opened the door themselves.

"Karina, I-" Chris stopped himself when he saw Quady drinking water. He looked at Karina.

"Hey Chris." Karina went to hug him but he moved.

"What he doing here?" Chris said while pointing at Quady.

"My bad CB. I just came to talk to Karina about something. Im bout to go. Karina, call me later." Karina closed and locked the door behind Quady.

"What the fuck he came over here to talk about?"

"Firstly, calm down. Secondly, it wasn't anything to be worried about. He just showed up out the blue doing what Quady does."

"I don't know that nigga and the nigga shouldn't be coming over unannounced! You can tell that nigga still in love with you! 'Call me later' tell that nigga he talk to you again he won't be able to talk anymore!" Chris continued on his rant and Karina just stood there listening. She could tell something deeper was bothering him but didn't want to interrupt him. Once he was done, Karina spoke.

"Chris, is everything okay? If there's something bothering you, you know you can talk to me...right?" Karina grabbed his hands.

"Nah...there's nothing wrong Rina."

"You sure?" Chris sighed, not wanting to tell her that him and Diamond kissed. He grabbed her head and kissed her forehead.

"I'm sure baby. There's nothing wrong. I'm just tired." Karina stared at him and sighed.

"Okay." Chris picked her up and took her upstairs and cuddled in bed with her. Chris regretted not saying something right then and there but he didn't want to look guilty...even though he was. He just didn't want to disappoint Karina and prove her wrong.
