Maybe They Were Right

It was Sunday and Karina was doing a clients hair. Usually she doesn't do hair on Sunday but the girl could never come in on Saturday due to Karina always being booked for that day and because she worked Monday through Friday. The girl was a loyal customer and she always tipped good so Karina allowed her to come in. She wanted long medium knotless braids so Karina made sure to restock on snacks and beverages.

"How you been Karina? It's been a minute since I've been in your chair girl." The client said.

"I've been really good and yesss you a busy lady these days. How's the new job?"

"It's really good. I love it. I just be so busy now. Cant even get my hair done!" They both chuckled. Karina's phone dinged and then again two more times. "Damn somebody blowing you up girl!" Karina briefly stopped and saw that it was Chris.

Karina gasped and looked at the picture of the baby. She was gorgeous. Karina was so excited about the baby coming that she begged Chris for a picture when she was born.

She is so beautiful Chris! Congratulations to you and her mother!!❤️

She put her phone back down and continued to do her hair. About an hour later, her client sighed heavily.

"I'm so tired of the shaderoom posting Chris Brown. I do not like that nigga." Karina scrunched up her face and looked down. She saw that the shaderoom posted the news about Chris having another baby.

"Damn. News travels fast." Karina said in her mind. "You don't like Chris Brown?! Why notttt?" Karina asked aloud.

"You do?"

"I asked you first." Karina laughed.

"Ion know him for real but from what I see on the media...no one should like him. First of all the whole Rihanna thing, then word travels around Cali fast. That nigga is a whore and a cheater. It's actually disgusting." Karina rolled her eyes.

"You can't trust everything on social media."

"I know but if social media is saying the same thing over and over again...then it must be some truth to it. I mean the nigga just had another baby with another woman. Like damn nigga don't you own condoms?!" The client laughed and Karina fake chuckled.

Karina hated when people talked bad about Chris in front of her. She felt like she knew Chris enough to know that he was the complete opposite of what the media portrayed him to be.

"Well you said it best...you don't know him for real so I guess all you can do is listen to the media." Karina said.

"Sound like you like Chris Brown?"

"Am I being crucified for liking him?" Karina laughed and the girl chuckled.

"Girl no. Everyone is entitled to their open opinions." Karina nodded and continued to do her hair while the tv played Martin.

Karina stayed silent the rest of the appointment. Still feeling some type of way from the comments her client made. Yes the client did talk here and there and of course Karina responded. But Karina didn't initiate any conversations. As she thought over her and Chris's friendship, she thought back to when Chris kissed her jawline. She bit her lip as the emotions ran through her body all over again. Whether she wanted to admit or not, she did have feelings for Chris. Karina just didn't want to mess up their friendship and because he did just have a baby. She knew right now wasn't the right time...maybe no time was the right time. She decided to push the thoughts and feelings to the back of her head and finish the knotless braids.
