Host 2 - Jamie's Story

Desert plain

The sun.
The burning sun and sand. The only thing in this waste land with no food or water.
I don't even know how i got out here. All i remember is hills of sand; sand Storms and more sand.

I was walking north, i think. I couldn't tell. I thought sleeping during the day would be best but there was no shade so i would just fry under the suns raise.

I don't know how i got into this mess or how I'm going to get out of it. I have to keep going though.

I've been out here for only a day and I can feel the sunburn over my body. My cracked lips matched the dryness of my throat. My stomach rumbled, angry for the pack of nutrition.

I walked until i couldn't anymore and fell into the hot sand. Looking up at the clear blue sky.

I was lying here for maybe half an hour until i heard voices. There were murmurs and dehydration was making it hard to see. I tried not to pass out.

"I told you someone was out here" a males voice said.

"How did she get all the way out here?, Does she have a death wish" this time it was a womans voice.

"Check her" another male said.

For what I could make out there was 3 shadows which meant three people.

The tallest shadow nodded to the other male who was a little taller than the female.

He knelt over and hovered over me slightly.

"Well?" The other male voice said.

"She's human" the boy above me replied.

He leans further down and his face clears a little. He had short Brown hair, just a little down to the blue eyes. His face was of a boy who was forced to grow up too soon but who could blame him. We were all forced to in this damn world.

He looked at the brink of growing up but by his body muscle and structure you could tell he was older than he looked.

When I looked at him a little longer, it occured to me.
"Jamie?" I whisper. My throat dry and sore.

"Emma!" He stops in disbelief, obviously remembering now. He picks up my head and tilts it, giving me water. As i drank greedily, enjoying the quenched feeling the girl spoke.

"Emma? As in Emma Williams our old neighbour." She asks. Jamie nods and looks down to me again before helping me sit up.

I look at her properly now. "Nice to see you again Melanie" my senses returned. She nods in return.

The boy beside her speaks."come on let's get back"
Mel looks at me looking and introduces him. "Emma, this is Jared, the love of my life" she smiles and kisses him pulling him back into the direction they came.

Jamie helps me stand up and pulls me into a hug. " it's so good to see you" he whispers holding me close.

"You too"

"I never thought i'd see you again"

I smile. Jamie and i had been best friends since we were kids. Possibly when we were 2 when I first moved into his neighbourhood.

"Talk later you two, the suns setting. It will be dark soon." Mel shouts up ahead.

Jamie smiles again and pulls me behind him, keeping a firm grip on my hand.
