Host 2 - Jamie's Story

chapter 24

When we get back we're laughing together as jamie has an arm around my shoulder.

"Ah jamie, could you watch jack for me?" Mel hands him jack.

"Sure, but why?"

I hit jamie on the arm. "Jamie, mel probably just wants some alone time. Leave them be."

Mel mutters a thankyou and passes the baby bag to me before she goes into her tent.

"So, what do you want to do little man," I say tickling jack. He laughs making me smile.

"Why don't we go see what mummy brought for you," I open the bag and find some toys.

After going over to the fire but a fair distance away and the baby bag as a barrier we had a blanket laid down with jack and his toys in the middle of us.

"So what's the plan?" I ask him.

He looks up from jack. "Wanda and mel remember meeting a group of humans saying there were other groups. We're heading to the closest one and then we will warn them. Our best chances are going as far away from here as possible."

I nod in agreement. "So for now we keep moving."

He nods. "We keep moving."

Jack started cooing his toys and making cute baby noises.

"Eeeewww baby saliva," I shake my hand grossed out after taking a toy out his mouth.

Jack looks at me innocently and laughs.

"You know they do that right?" Jamie smiles teasing me.

"You won't mind having some then," I say leaning over and wiping my hands on him while he tries to swat my hands away. The both of us laughing.

"Uhhhh," he says as I got his face.

"You know they do that right?" I mimic him as he makes a disgusted face. I smile and give him a soft kiss on the lips, he immediately responded.

"Eeehhh" we hear jack say covering his eyes.

Now we both laughed. After a while, we went back to playing with jack and not long after he got tired.

He was beginning to snooze in my arms. Jamie was watching me lovingly.

"Here, I'll take him for a while," wanda offers. I pass him over gratefully. I was beginning to get tired myself.

Once wanda wrapped him in his blanket and put a teddy in front of him; I sighed and moved my neck uncomfortably.

"You ok?" Jamie asks.

"Yea, just a stiff neck. That's all".

"Come here," Jamie moves behind me and begins to massage me. It felt so good. I moan unexpectedly. I tense embarrassed. Jamie smiles and carries on.

"Thanks."
After a few moments jamie speaks up.

"You know, I was watching you with jack just now."

"You were watching me?" I tease.

I can practically feel his grin behind me.

Without me noticing he moves closer to me. His breath was on the back of my neck. His hands still on my shoulders.

With my top strap down my arm, my whole shoulder was viewable for him.

"It made think of our kids," he says kissing it.

"You think about our kids?."

"I think about us alot. When we'll get married, the names of our first child."

I shift slightly as he stays in the same position. I turn my head to him.

"How many kids to you want".

"4."

"4?."

"Yes, two of each. William James stryder, chloe rose stryder, Brandon stryder, and our youngest sophie Louise stryder."

I look at him surprised. "Wow so specific. You know there's a chance that won't happen."

He ignores that comment and continues. "And then to make this all happen; you emma Williams will become my wife. When we're safe and this madness can be a small memory."

I smile lovingly. " I can't wait." He leans in, slowly kissing me. It was such a small thing but meant so much.

"Come on, lets go to bed, " Jamie suggests helping me up.

"Behave you two. Sheets aren't sound proof and there are children about," Ian shouts over.

"Like you would care in my position" I reply smiling and going into the tent.

'On the road again...naturally.' I sang in my head thinking about tomorrow and welcomed a blissful sleep.
