Host 2 - Jamie's Story

chapter 16

Jamie's pov: The explosion was the first indication of an attack. I ran to the the cave entrance only to be tied up and a band wrapped around my mouth. Along with many others including mel and Jared. Those who weren't here where gathering supplies to get out if we don't.

I watch helplessly as mel squirms looking at someone. The seeker stood in front of... emma. The gun was pointed at her just outside the cave. She looked injured but the determination in her eyes told me she was thinking.

She suddenly started shooting rounds above her. Where did the gun come from? What is she doing?
It became clear once the rocks came falling. The last thing I saw was emma watching me before the rocks came crashing down with dust everywhere.

Then people came running in taking the souls who where trapped in here with us. We were all untied. Some still knocked out. Dust was still everywhere and there was coughing heard;even from me.

"Em..cough...emma" I shout but nobody answered. I finally looked up. The entrance was sealed.
"Now what?" Someone asked.
" There's another way out. Come on" Jared said leading us out. When we did make it out, I ran around ahead of the rest only to be hit in the head.

Pain racked through my body as I went down. My vision was impaired but from the look of her red hair I knew it was victoria.

"You have been a right pain since you found her." Her kick was powerful. It forced the air from me.

I coughed more and rolled onto my front trying to get up before she kicked me again.

"Why are u doing this?" I wheeze.

"Why!?why!? Her parents killed the love of my life. So I vowed to take theirs and their children. Their pain would be worse."

"If he was anything like you I wouldn't blame them" I choked back before she gripped my shirt pulled me up and punched my jaw. Making me fall again. Spitting away blood.

"No one can save you. As we speak 6 of my men hold your friends captive. You are alone. How beautiful. You die with your love."

My breath hitched. How dare she say something like that about emma.

"What?" It barely came out as a whisper but she heard me.

You left her alone.
We put a host inside. Just before you showed up. Now she is dead; the soul can take over." As if on cue she walked from the rubble. Bloody, bruised and broken but alive. Except the hosts eyes took over.

My emma.... gone.

"What is your name, friend?" Victoria asked.

"I'm skyler. That medicine you gave me worked wonders "she says swaying her shoulders around and stepping down from the rubble.

"It always does my dear"

"Emma" I whisper not being able to look away. "Emma can you hear me"

Skyler looks over. Just noticing him. "This girl is no longer here."

"How dare you?..." My anger soaring trying to reach her but being pinned by the red head. Skyler smiles. "What do you wish me do,seeker."

"Kill him. Take the others back."
"What about the host on their side?"
Wanda....
"Kill her for her treachery ".
"Nooooo!" Ian runs out and attacks victoria with the others not far
behind.
"You won't lay a hand on her or anyone" Ian seethed through his teeth keeping the seeker down.

"How did you?..."she asks confused.

" The very thing you came with" Jared holds up the tranquiliser.

Mel helps me up.
Victoria watches then goes from smiling to laughing joyfully.
