Host 2 - Jamie's Story

Flashbacks

"Are you alright now?" Saph asks me. I nod.

Matt comes running in. "Are you alright?" I smile and nod again. Its been a while since someone looked after me.

Harry ran out the door ignoring my parents bodies. "After him" Victoria shouts holding me. "No!" I shout standing on her foot making her loosen so I pull away and follow my brother.

We lived partly over water so we have a wooden path to our house. The hosts were close behind and harry and I Couldn't outrun them. Then i noticed saph and matt at the end hiding behind bushes ushering us on.

The wood began to get crack and i noticed a hammer on the side remembering my father was meaning to fix this part. It was literally hanging on by a nail.

I picked it up and turned it around to the pointy end and pulled on the nail. A few seconds later it came lose and harry fell from the rocking of the wood. Using my foot i pushed it away to the sand edge where matt and saph were. Harry shouting out my name.

A host went to grab me but i ducked and dove into the water. Hauling myself out of the water on the opposite sand bank side of my siblings.

Victoria was shouting orders to get to me, when I looked; my siblings where gone. My house was now in flames.

My whole world came crashing down as i laid in the sand looking at my home. My parents are dead. My siblings are gone. I'm alone. I got up and ran.

"Em!...Em!...earth to Em," Matt shook his hand in front of my face getting my attention.

"What?... What happened that night?" I stuttered.

"Night? What, night?" Matt asks quickly.

"That night five years ago. The night when mom and dad died when you all left me and I was alone. Why-why Did yo-u leave m-e?"

I begin to cry scrunched up in a ball.

"Em.." Saph sounds defeated. "We wanted to help you, really."

"Then why? I was 13. I Couldn't look after myself i was still a kid. I had to go through all that..." My voice was starting to hold anger now too. "I've been running for 5 years. I was almost caught and almost died several times," My voice broke."my only friend wasn't so lucky. 'She was 9!'. I cry out the last part. My heart braking again."

My brother and sister showed sadness and guilt.
"She helped me. She was alone just like me. I stayed with her for a few months until the same seeker who had been tracking me down found us.

"She killed her! "I cried out rocking back and forth. Doc had already left not wanting to be involved. "It was her birthday," i say quietly. "I couldn't protect her, if i wasn't there she may still be alive."

"I thought that they were peaceful?" Saph asks.

Thinking back to that day was hard. I wanted to surprise Sophie for her birthday. I wanted to get her something special but i couldn't leave her alone. We made our way to a store house close by and broke in through a side window. It was quiet but i knew there would be people about. As We moved around the isles quietly We noticed a flash light coming towards. "You take the left. Ill take the right lane".

We went our separate ways. I thought We has lost them till i heard a scream behind me. I slowly turned around and that's when i saw her. Victoria held Sophie tightly until she let go. Sophie went limb with a cut across her neck. No! It was all my fault. We shouldn't have been there. She shouldn't have been with me. Victoria looked to me smiling victoriously. "I finally found you after all these years".
"I escaped you five years ago. Ill do it again. I'm not afraid of you"
"Like she was?"she smiles looking to Sophie's scared expression.

"How could you? She was a kid. She never deserved to die. Not even my parents. I thought you scared for all things living." I spoke firmly and tried to hide my shaking body that just wanted to cry out of grief and guilt.

More hosts stood around me. There was no where to run. "You see child. I wont rest till you and and every last family member is dead. Starting with you"....

"So did i," i finally replied. "But, this seeker; she will stop at nothing to have me. I don't know why but its like she needs me. Like father and mother did something to make her angry. After her death, i left. I figured after running for so long it was about time i stopped running. Either Victoria was going to kill me or the heat would. I hadn't seen anyone else human since then. So... I walked into the desert. Not knowing what i wanted but somehow i knew doing it would be good. And I was right. When I saw you guys again i forgot the pain you caused until just now."

They remained silent as i cried more.

"I think you both still have work to do?" Jamie whispers at the door. How Long has he been standing there?. Saph nods and pulls Matt out before both of them look my way again and leave.

Jamie walks over and jumps up on the table with me. Holding me to his chest. I grabbed onto his shirt for dear life as i wept for a while. Letting the unshed tears fall. Of death, betrayal, abandonment...
