Host 2 - Jamie's Story

chapter 25

The day after we got got back on the road, it had been a total of a week of travel now. Every few days we would camp. Finally after a week we made it. I don't know where exactly.

"Jamie, how do you know where to find them?".

He lifts it up and speaks in a walkie talkie.
Seriously, I mentally laugh.

"Jared make a left; they'll meet us a little further down.

I was currently sitting with an arm around harry facing jamie. It was dark which would mean not many people were around which was good for our cover.

This place seemed to be a mountain range. They stayed wedged in a mountain with only a small entrance for easy coverage. That's what I heard anyway.

As jared pulled over he climbed out and I heard talking. According to wanda they met this group before. Another soul who had switched sides.

"Benjamin," mel shouted jumping out with jack in her arms.

Then she switched with wanda hiding this soul.

I was currently holding harry to my side as we got out.

Benjamin noticed jamie and shook his hand.
"You couldn't of come at a better time."

"Why is that?,"Mark asks.

"As of late we've had souls searching closer to the cave. We've been able to keep their attention elsewhere but I suspect they'll find us in only a matter of weeks. We have been planning to relocate, we just need assistance on plans.

"Great, that is in fact why we're here anyway," Jamie replies following Ben up the mountain.

"How long do you think we'll be around here?' Saphire asks me.

"I'm not sure. No more than a few days at most," I reply, finishing off hiding the truck.

"Its a shame. Don't you think?," harry says beside me. Head down.

"What do you mean?," Ian asks a little behind us.

"Jeb worked so hard for our place and so many of us were saved because, of him. I just feel like everything's been done for nothing. Everyone should be gone now. The seeker is probably looking on clues to find us. It's just... that place was home...and now...it's gone."

All is quiet. I sigh and pill him into me again.

"It wasn't a waste. You're right it was home. Well, as close as you can get to one and yes we were forced to leave but they were bound to find us. Jeb knew that too."
I hug him harder before we carry on following.
Just 10 minutes later we had squeezed through the entrance. It started off damp and musty but as we went in further, the caves became bigger and dryer.

Soon we had entered this huge space. It was almost like home except this was it. A dome of rooms all over with only a few tunnels leading elsewhere.

"How do you get supplies? " jared asks.

"There's a town a few miles away. I visit every once in a while."

Once we had for to the centre, people began walking out to see us. There were many. Perhaps 30 so far but alot were young children. I felt bad knowing they were orphaned young. Most not fully understanding what was going on around them.

Jamie came beside me with a hand on my waist and smiled.

Harry hung onto my arm I had wrapped in front of him now.

"No need to be scared bud," marks says ruffling his hair.

"That kid is a soul" he whispers pointing ahead of us.

A 4 year old little girl stood just watching us. Sure enough I saw her eyes have that glow.

Benjamin turned to look at her too. "There are a few souls here who have switched sides. No need to be afraid."

The young girl walked over. "How old are you?: she asked harry.

"13" he replied. He had his brithday a few days ago.

"I'm 413, so not that far off" she replied sweetly. "Come play" she insisted.

Pulling harry by his shirt and off somewhere.

"400 years off, " Ian muttered before wanda elbowed him.

" looks like he has an admirer," mel states.

I wanted to laugh at this situation. Physically she was 4 but, she's old enough to be my great-great-great grandmother.

Ben claps his hands to get our attention.

"Well, it's late and I'm sure you're all tired. I'll show you to your rooms.

We were all out in one large room as it was our temporary stay.

What's going to happen tomorrow.
