CHAPTER 69

Last night I felt powerful.

But now I feel weak again.

In just one night dozens of events happened.

First, we found a building with lights, and Minho got struck by lightning. Then, those people almost handed us back to WICKED but Jorge and Brenda took us out. Also, Thomas and Brenda are missing and Minho was almost killed.

Now I'm sort of in charge of what we do.

Because I made the deal.

Whatever happens, it's on me.

The others are relying on me, for this 'negotiation'.

This is how Thomas must have felt all these days.

We gave him all the responsibility. He was the one who guided us, we waited for him to have all the answers-

It is anxious and that must be why he panicked that easily.

Now I feel the same.

I shook it off and got up. Last night we decided to take shelter here in the forest, under some trees. We hoped WICKED wouldn't be able to find us and actually they didn't.

At first, I couldn't catch any sleep. I didn't want to sleep. I wanted to stay up in case anything happened.

The dangers were lots. What if WICKED managed to find us? What if Jorge decided to abandon us in the middle of the night while we were asleep?

But no.

He seemed like a man who kept his word. He shook my hand. He accepted this negotiation.

I was the only one awake. Indeed it was really early. I slept for three hours maximum but my body felt strong. It is like someone injected me with a drug that makes me feel better and stronger.

I took a look through my backpack and I found the knives again.

Three knives. Not daggers. No bow, no arrows.

I feel defenseless. But I have two hard fists that would do the trick.

I have to forget about my bow now.

It was something I loved. But the attachment is still there. When we first got in the building they took all our stuff in order to shower. Of course, they gave them some personal stuff but not our weapons.

I left one knife in the bag and took the rest two knives and stuffed them in my pocket.

I need to be ready at all times.

Suddenly I heard a sound from behind me. I snatched the knife from my pocket and as I turned around I threw it.

Shit.

The person I almost hit, bent down and the knife stopped at a tree.

A perfect aim.
