003 - Jobs tryouts

When I got up, I went to get breakfast.

After yesterday's win, I felt confident. But I somehow still wanted to apologize to Gally.

I got my breakfast from Fry, thanked him, and walked over to Newt and Minho at their table. "Can I sit here?"

"Sure," Minho said looking up and then back at his food. "You for sure had a win yesterday". He shrugged glancing up at me again.

I sat down next to Newt, and across from Minho. I placed my plate on the table. "Oh really it was nothing". I said picking up my fork. Deep inside I felt flattered by my achievement.

Silence fell until I finished my food. Then Newt spoke up.

"Ready to try out some jobs?" He said turning to face me.

"Yeah sure, what jobs am I trying again?" I replied turning to face him too.

"You will start as a Slicer. Come on let's go". He grabbed my wrist gently and walked me there.

When we arrived a boy with black hair, was waiting. "This is Winston, keeper of the Slicers. He will help you. I'll see you guys later". Newt said pointing at the boy.

The boy stocked out his hand for me to shake. I eventually did.

I only could nod, and smile. When I greeted Newt, Winston spoke up. "Hey, greenie you ready?"

"Well not really but I'm okay". I said and he laughed.

"Come on let's go, you will wish for this to be over by any minute". I nodded and followed him.

"For god's sake, I don't want to see any more meat today". I groaned as I sat across Minho.

"Sucks for you greenie". He said and then he stuffed his mouth with meat which I felt disgusted by.

Then Newt sat down next to me. "No food?" He said looking at me in the eyes.

"No. I've seen enough meat for today". I exhaled rubbing my forehead with one hand.

Silence fell for a minute or two but this time, I spoke up. "So what jobs will I try out tomorrow?" I turned to Newt, relaxing my face on my hand.

"Most of the day as a Track-hoe and then you will cook dinner with Fry". Newt replied.

"You better not poison us". Minho said looking up with his eyebrows raised.

"I'll keep that in mind". I chuckled. "I think I'll go to sleep. Night". With that, I walked off.

I went to let's say 'my' for now hut to soon realize I had no clothes to change to. I sat down on the bed, looking at the ground. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" I said a little loudly.

"Uh, it's me. Newt".

"Come in". I quickly said. Did I feel nervous?

"Hey I uh just wanted to take pyjamas. I forgot yesterday". He said scratching the back of his neck.

"Yeah go ahead". He took some things and when he was about to pull the door handle he turned around. "Alby said there was a box that came up just for you. You can go get it anytime you want".

"Thanks, I will go eventually". I chuckled awkwardly.

"Here". He handed me some black shorts and a grey sweater. "I think I will go now. Night". He smiled and walked out of the hut.
