"A little pick-me-up," Amara said as she placed two coffee cups onto the table for Simone and Sevyn.

"Thank you. I thought we were gonna have to sleep in the gym last night because of the lockdown." Simone tiredly.

"We didn't leave the gym until also three in the morning," Sevyn said before taking a sip of her coffee.

"I am so glad you two made it home safely. I just wish that also could have been the case for the young student who was attacked."

"Yeah. Me, too. How are they?" Simone asked.

"Who are they, and how worried should we be about all this?" Sevyn questioned.

"All I can disclose for now is that it appears to be an isolated incident. However, I spoke to Coach Loni, and, as a precaution, we've decided to close the HBCU Tennis Invitational to the public." Amara told them.

"Look. You have no arguments from us there." Sevyn told her.

"I think the team's a little shook, plus there's already so much riding on this tournament," Simone said.

"I know you two want to do well, but I thought preseason play didn't really count," Amara said making them give her the same look.

"Of course, it counts. We're laying the foundation for our regular season. We've been training for weeks."

"We've been putting in extra hours in the gym... weight training, cardio, resistance," Sevyn added

"OK. Maybe you two had enough coffee." Amara said as she took both of their coffees out of their hands.

"Auntie, we're am fine. I'm just ready to level up like you and this whole White House thing." Simone told her as they took back their coffees.

"It's just a committee appointment, Simone. I'm not running the government."

"Well, we'd all be better off if you were, and plus, you got to admit, working with the VP is cool," Sevyn told her before taking a bite of her sandwich.

"It is, but let's stay focused on you two."

"There's nothing to focus on. I am good. I am locked in. This has to be my year. We got to bounce. The team's waiting." Simone said as they started to pack up.

"Thanks for the coffee Auntie," Sevyn said before they walked toward the exit.
