"I've been waiting for you," Dr Larow continued, smiling at Sora as she looked down at the Photac guiltily while I glared at the scientist, "Rapton reported he used your Photac device in the field. I knew you wouldn't be able to resist returning Ana." "Her name is Sora now," I told her coldly, Sora nodding in agreement. "Ugh. You named yourself after that dragon?" Larow replied, shuddering, "Disgusting." "She and I were the same," Sora retorted, "Two pawns you used for your own gain." "I thought you were a scientist, Ana," Larow replied, unimpressed, "Science has no room for sentiment. After the Merge, the Empress wanted to use the Photac more than ever," Larow explained, turning around the datapad in her hand to show us a recording of the Merge and various dragon captures, "So many new dragons to hunt. But we hadn't been able to activate your device. Until recently." "I'm surprised you figured it out," Sora replied, holding the Photac under her arm, "Exotic photovoltaic positrons were never your thing." "Yeah, you seem like you have more skill in regard to being an evil jerk," I agreed, Sora glaring at Larow. "Huh, I see your new Outlander friends are feisty," Larow said, unimpressed, walking over to us, "And have already corrupted you. Where's that sweet, wide-eyed little girl who was excited just to be in a real science lab?" "She grew up. On the streets of a strange city. When she had to escape a family poisoned against her by her former hero," Sora shot back.

"Sorry, sweetie," Larow apologised fakely, holding up the datapad again, "You're old enough now to know that all heroes disappoint eventually. Even Ninja," She added, pulling up a picture of Lloyd to Sora and my shock. "I know about the company you've been keeping. You think the Claw's mission reports wouldn't reach me?" Larow asked her rhetorically. "Then why didn't you come for me?" Sora demanded, confused. "Because you knew if Sora saw the Photac, she'd come back on her own to destroy it," I explained, Larow nodding in agreement, "You set this up from the start." "Precisely. And you came back just in time," Larow added, "We need you." Sora scoffed at the idea of helping Imperium as Larow continued. "You're right that I couldn't get the Photac to work on my own. I had the help of an unconventional consultant. He got your original prototype working, and even made copies," Larow explained, pressing a button on her screen, opening a large compartment in the wall to reveal a row of shelving containing a large number of Photacs. "No," Sora murmured in horror, looking at them as I placed a consoling hand on her shoulder. "One problem. We haven't been able to initialise these new devices," Larow told us, turning away, to tap at her screen, "But I know someone who can. Activate them for me," Larow ordered, turning back to Sora. "I will never let you use my invention to hurt more innocent dragons," Sora argued firmly, Larow sighing in disappointment.

"Huh. I anticipated you might feel that way. So I arranged a little motivation," Larow told us, tapping her screen to activate a set of lights in the corner, revealing a dragon Sora had seen in her youth in Imperium, locked in a draining cage, "An old friend." "Sora!" Sora yelled in concern, running over to the dragon in concern as Dorama jumped up onto his back, "Dorama? You're supposed to be in prison!" "He's your 'unconventional consultant'?" I asked Larow, both shocked and slightly amused, "I'm impressed he's still alive. I mean he's so annoying I would've thought that Ras guy wouldn't be willing to put up with him." Dr Larow actually looked to be in agreement with me regarding how irritating the circus freak was as Dorama glared at me, clearly furious. "Lord Ras did want to get rid of him multiple times," Larow agreed, adding more quietly, "As have I. But he certainly knows what he's doing when it comes to manipulating unique energy sources," She admitted.

"Exactly! My genius can be experienced in many ways!" Dorama told us, clearly irritated by my comment, "Now, Sora, if you don't do as Dr Larow says the consequences will be... very entertaining," Dorama threatened, lowering his staff to the dragon's head as it glowed purple, causing the dragon to start writhing around in pain. "Stop!" Sora yelled in concern, trying to enter the cage, but being blocked by the energy field surrounding it, "Don't hurt her!" "So you're ready to help me, your Empress, and Imperium itself?" Larow asked her with a smile. "I don't have a choice, do I?" Sora pointed out bitterly. "You always were a smart child," Larow praised, Dorama quickly stopping as the four of us walked back over to the bench holding the Photac, which Sora quickly opened, adding in a weld before closing it back up. "Done," Sora told Larow, passing it to her. "Already?" Larow asked in shock at her speed, "So the device can manifest a Photac beast now?" "See for yourself," Sora offered, Dorama and Larow looking more closely at the device as Sora discreetly activated it with the trigger behind her back, causing it to open, forcing the pair back as a bright light briefly blinded them. "Aahh!" Dr Larow yelled in pain, as she fell to the floor, crashing into a table behind her, looking around, her dazed vision barely allowing her to see Sora and I freeing Sora the dragon as we left the lab, causing her to scream in frustration as she ran over to the wall and sounded the alarm, which began wailing throughout the building.
