LISTENING to the radio as Umiko, a sixteen year old girl rode her bike down to her local grocery store, the wind billowing through her curly copper colored hair as she rode in the eerily quiet streets,  the tiny red radio playing typical pop songs that put her in a good mood.

As she pulled up to the small grocery store, she oddly found it closed, despite it being midday. "What in the... where's Mr. Miyazaki? He's open by this time." She thought, her wide, round eyes squinting as she stared into the empty store. "Actually, where is everyone?" She mumbled, looking around as she shut her radio off, noting the seemingly abandoned buildings. Did everyone fall of the face of the earth without her knowing? No- that couldn't be, she saw her upstairs neighbor chasing a mosquito with a spray can this morning!

Was there an evacuation notice? Umiko figured that was most likely. But how she didn't notice was beyond her.

There was a buzzing in the air, and the sky darkened. "Rain?" She mumbled, looking up. But this cloud didn't look like a cloud to her.

      It looked alive.

Before she could even register what the could was, it crashed into her, attempting to suck the blood out of her. "What the- ow!" She winced, smacking off as many of the tiny pests as she could. Suddenly, the stopped, backing away and regrouping up in the air again, seemingly disgusted by her blood. Her jacket was torn in her shoulder seams, and her already messed up jeans ripped even more in her ankle area.

As Umiko mummers to herself, trying to figure out what the hell was happening, she saw a big burst of flame replace the immense swarm of mosquitoes over in the distance ahead of her.

The girl's common sense, her mind, heart, and soul were begging her to turn back, leave the city. It clearly wasn't safe, and her little mosquito attack was a reminder of that. But against her better judgement, she hopped on her bike, and began to peddle towards the pillar of smoke that was the remained of the mosquitos.

AS a boy at the age of nineteen stood upon the roof of a run down city building, he scanned the gathering black mass of gathering mosquitos, his optics scanning each street, checking for anyone left behind. There wasn't anyone, until he saw a large, feminine figure in the center of the flying black mass. Taking a slight breath in, he laser focused in on this monster.

     "Target Acquired."
