'Of course! Why didn't I think to strengthen my mind!' Genos exclaimed mentally, pacing back and forth in the main are of Saitama's apartment.
"Master Saitama is wise, so I must heed his word." Genos spoke aloud, stopping in the middle of the room.
Genos spent the next half hour pondering ways to strengthen his mind. Meditation sounded perfect.
Genos sat on his futon, closing his eyes, and began to focus his mind.
Focusing his mind...
Focus...
Genos opened his eyes and sighed. Why was it so hard to focus? He had no problem focusing before. He always had to keep his mind clear to fight foes and monsters in battles past.
He closed his eyes again. Doing his best to focus his mind. He heard a small laugh in the back of his mind. Umiko's laugh.
Genos opened his eyes, visibly annoyed. "Why is it every time I try to focus I think about her? Dr. Kuseno's 'Crush Theory' is proving to be correct beyond my comprehension." Genos flopped on his back, lying on his futon.
The cyborg had found his 'crush' on Umiko to be as annoying as can be. It had been affecting every aspect of his life like no other.
For example, when he's cooking, he would normally be thinking about nutritional benefits that could be the secret to unlocking his Sensei's power, but now for some ungodly reason he thinks about if Umiko would like it. And he wouldn't even be cooking for her!
Or when he's grooming his hair in the mornings after he had spent a night at Umiko's, how utterly perfect it felt to have her fingers run through his hair as they spoke about nonsense, and how he most definitely wanted to have her touch all to himself again.
Or like the day he went home last week after their dinner, how he wanted to do it again and again for the rest of time, to just... bask in her presence again.
He still has the clothes Umiko lent him. He wasn't going to give them back, not anytime soon. Oh, how he felt comfort with the soft fabrics and bright colors of the garments.
He just...
Genos needed... he needed to focus. Focus on his strength, his mind, his training.
But the only thing he could think of was the girl that wasn't even fully human in the first place.
He couldn't help it. He couldn't help it at all. He wanted to hold her, hold her hands again, her face... he just wanted her.
He ran his fingers through his blonde hair.
It didn't feel the same.
He sat back up, rubbing the back of his neck in frustration.
Readying himself up, he closed his eyes and centered his breathing.
'Focus, Genos. Strengthen your mind.' He thought, taking a deep breath in.
He held his breath for a few seconds, exhaling slowly as his chest relaxed.
There, his mind was clear. He could finally focus.
The blonde boy had meditated for a while, feeling his mind sharpen as he focused.
Well, that was until he had heard a crash outside. "What is it now?" He griped going to his balcony to see whatever the fuck was going on outside.
Sliding the glass back door open, stepping onto that tiny balcony. What he saw didn't surprise him.
His Umiko had crashed into a wall, laying down in a position in what a normal person would simply cackle at, Umiko lying on the street, her bicycle splayed out a few feet away, one of the tires flat and bent.
