It was about four or five days since Genos properly asked Umiko out.
her brain was still cloudy and she barely could think. Umiko had been trying to get her mind off the sudden ask from those few days ago.
She was actually In City A for specialized parts that she wanted for the sole purpose of replicating a previous version of Genos's arms. She felt that attempting to replicate his latest upgrade would cause her head to explode from all the minute parts and details that make up the man. It had gotten to the point where she kept random metal paraphernalia on her at all times; like rebar, electrical tape, and wide, thick wires one could probably use for a telephone pole.
And currently, Umiko was inside of a higher-end computer department store for a few computer parts she believed could help her endeavors with Genos' mechanics.
"So what you're telling me is that you have NO cooling fans? Isn't this a computer store?" Umiko rubbled circles into the temple of her head, frustrated with the greasy store clerk.
"Sorry miss, we don't have any fans like that. We have processing fans. Maybe if you did a little more research, you would know the difference." The clerk griped back.
"Look, I have an image of what I'm looking for. I spent four hours on the train from Z city to here because of THESE specific processing fans. And I just need to know, do you have any in stock?" Umiko wanted to pull her hair out.
She had been arguing with the guy for the past half hour about the names of computer parts. And she wants to just slam her head on the glass countertop until she passed out, but she knows better than to break things that don't belong to her.
She would rather be drowning in the Mariana again than be here.
"We have the fans. But not the ones in the size you want. We have fans big enough for that hoverboard you have there." The man snided back at the sixteen year old. Umiko had been carrying around the hoverboard she hadn't even tested yet lately. It was a wierd attachment she had to it. As it was what she was holding when Genos properly asked her out.
"Okay, harsh. But I don't need the fans for a hoverboard- I need bigger ones- annnd he left." The guy just walked off twords the back and left Umiko there standing alone in the store.
Guy came back around... maybe thirty minutes later. Umiko wasn't counting. She was just going he had the fans she needed.
"Do ya'll have anything?" Umiko asked the greasy man, adjusting her tote bag on her shoulder to rest more comfortably, her clunky hoverboard poking out from the back.
"Just two of our biggest fans. Here. Fourty-nine and thirty-two cents. Pay up. If you don't say anything stupid I'll help you out the fans on." The man pushed the two fans forward a little.
Umiko sighed, tired with all of the nonsense she has to deal with. She pulled out of her wallet and pulled out a fifty.
It wasn't what she was looking for, but Umiko wasn't in the mood to deal with mean store clerks. He was probably having a rough day. Working in stores like these sucks. There were days at her old store job that made Umiko want to rip her hair out of her scalp.
"Yeah, why not? Thank you." Umiko reached into her bag and heaved a little as she pulled out the hoverboard. Rusted in the majority of areas, with some shiny and new.
Umiko watched intently and in silence as the greasy worker attached the fans, only speaking up to ask questions.
"So the fans keep everything cool, right? Like the coolant fluid in a boat or a car. Or something of the like." Inquired Umiko, her head tilting ever so slightly to the side as she asked her silly questions.
