AS Umiko slept in Genos's arms, the blonde hero was having trouble himself with sleeping. He didn't have this trouble last time.

He gazed down at her, brushing a few locks of her copper colored curls away from her forehead. He played with her hair.

Umiko's hair fascinated him. It was tightly coiled in some spots, loosely curled in others... and it was long too, it made him wonder how she took care of it so well. His mind started to wander about her hair. Would a silk bonnet or pillowcase help with her hair given her genetics. She had such bright red hair. He really liked how shiny it is too, it reflecting the faint light from  the moon ray's peaking through the crack in the curtains.

Genos felt an arm around his waist, snaking up to hug him. Umiko cuddled into him, wrapping her body around his. Umiko sighed sleepily, relaxing in his arms, in total comfort.

'You're perfect for me.' Genos thought. In his sleepiness, he was surprised at himself. This girl, the one in his arms he held so tightly, was far from it. But to him? He liked it. 'This crush is becoming a problem. She keeps distracting me and I don't know what to do... I should confide in master about this later.' He decided. But for tonight? Tonight, he wasn't going to let her move an inch.

That night, Genos had a dream. He hadn't had a dream for the last year or so.

In his dreams, he was at his family home, sitting at his table with his father, both of them laughing heartily. His father asked how his day was, and how college is treating him. Genos would tell him how his day was. Great, as per usual. The smell of delicious food wafted from the kitchen. Genos's father left to go finish dinner for his mother.

There was a knock at his door. Genos got up to answer it, and there she was. His girlfriend, Umiko, dressed up nicely. Genos happily welcomed her in, introducing her to his family.

She was immediately accepted into his family.

He was happy. He was content. He was at peace. An arm around her shoulder, talking and happily joking.

Genos was fully aware he was dreaming. He was a cyborg. His body was too advanced to not recognize that this wasn't really reality, no matter how badly he wished it was.

A loud beep rang through the air, and Genos opened an eye, reaching an arm out to shut off his alarm for the day. "Umiko. I need to get up." He whispered as Umiko groaned tiredly. "Noooo... don't get up..." she whined, looking up at him with a pouty lip, her chin resting on his chest. "I'm too comfy." She softly added, going back to sleep. The comfort in her voice as she spoke made it hard to tell her 'no'.

"Okay then, I'll stay here until you wake up." He agreed. Genos then pressed a hand to the small of het back, and In-between her shoulder blades. She hummed softly, content.

Genos didn't know how else to proceed. Would it be awkward when they woke up and had to part ways for the day? Or maybe would she not want to talk to him? Would she still want to go out to dinner with him? He didn't know.

It was a little scary to think about things like that. Girls, that is. Umiko to be exact. He, Genos, Unironically, was a little scared of Umiko. Not because she could hurt him, not even if she wanted to, but he was a little scared because he NEVER understood anything about her. Her motivations, her goals, dreams, anything. And yet, his heart palpitated every time around her.

He was going to understand her more. Dinner on Tuesday was going to be how he does it. He planned to create and memorize a list of questions he would ask her to dig into her psyche, to understand her thought process, her drive... her everything.
