Nari's POV
To be honest, I'm very grateful that Niki is taking me out for a breather, I was getting quite tired in there and wanted some rest. But being alone with Niki, makes me go crazy - the good type.
We finally arrive at the Astronomy Tower, and I can feel the breeze from the balcony against my cheeks, cooling me down after dancing for so long.
Niki and I stand there, taking in the fresh air and the silence is so peaceful. But the tension between us? It's so strong I'm sure that the both of us can feel it... unless it's just me.
Being alone with Niki recently has been feeling very different, compared to how it used to be. He's always made flirty remarks yeah, but nowadays, it seems that he's being so serious about them.
Even during our many study sessions, the tension is still there and it's portrayed by thinks like when I catch him staring at me and he looks away nervously, or when either of us are speaking and we both just listen to each other carefully... or other times where we accidentally touch hands or whatever.
Essentially, my heart never stops racing around him, just as it's doing now.
"It's so nice up here." I say with an exhale, taking in the beautiful view of the night sky and stars, and the lake in the distance, upon which the moonlight shines and makes it glimmer.
"Cold though." He says, and he suddenly takes off his jacket and puts it over my shoulders and I slip my arms in, only to find that it's way to big for me, and the sleeves go past my hands.
I turn to face him and stand there to let him have a look and he attempts to hold his laughter in.
"Oi don't laugh." I complain and he takes a step closer to me, trying to adjust the big jacket on me.
"I'm not I promise." He says whilst laughing and I scoff.
"You literally are."
"That's because you look cute."
I shut my mouth and pause, before turning back to face the view again, my stomach containing butterflies that won't stop fluttering around.
"You're going to get cold too Niki." I tell him.
"I'll be alright." He smiles, before I watch him move to stand directly behind me, hugging me from behind with his arms around my waist, embracing my warmth.
I swear my legs begin to tremble in shock. Someone kill me right now.
"Niki..."
"Nari." He responds, resting his chin on my shoulder so that the vibrations of his voice get sent right through my ear.
"If someone sees us-"
"They can fight me." He says, making me laugh a little.
A million thoughts begin to run through my head as I wonder why on earth he'd feel like he wants to hug me like this. I haven't much experience with boys, so does this mean something? Do... friends, usually do this?
I feel him stand up straight now, and he begins to fix my hair, moving it away from my face and so that it rests nicely on my back.
"You look beautiful tonight, Nari." He tells me, his deep voice shocking me once more as I turn around to face him this time, and his hands drop to my waist.
"And you look as handsome as ever, Riki."
He looks away with a smirk on his face before looking back at me nervously with a smile.
"Hmm, you think so?" He asks, tilting his head slightly as he looks down at me.
"Maybe just a little bit." I say teasingly and he rolls his eyes.
There's a moment of silence as we just gaze into each others eyes, and with his hands on my hips still, he guides me to take a step backwards, my back making contact with the wall behind me.
"What are you thinking about Nari?" He asks and I bite my lip.
"Shall I be totally honest?" I ask and he nods, still gazing at me with a soft smile. "I'm wondering why your eyes keep drifting towards my lips."
"Why do you think?" He asks, his tone low and seductive as his face leans in closer a little.
"You tell me. I've never experienced this before." I shrug and he looks amused.
"You're a smart girl. I'm sure you can infer how I feel about you, Miss Akiyama."
My heart falls out of my chest and my mouth parts slightly in shock as I scan his face, trying to spot any sign that this is a total prank.
But by taking into account that his hands are on my hips, and that there's barely any space between us... I'm assuming he's being serious.
"I really do like you ... and I'm not expecting an answer right now because it's so sudden... and because I know that I need to prove that I am actually a man worth being with, you know since I've done some stupid things in the past." He explains.
"You like me...?"
"Yes."
"Are you sure?"
"Certain."
"And it's real this time?"
"It's always been real for me Nari."
Oh my god.
"You're still wearing the bracelet I gave you." He notices, taking a hold of my hand and looking down at it.
"And you're still wearing the ring."
"I guess we both know how we feel about each other then." He sighs with a shrug.
"Don't be so sure Niki." I say teasingly and he exhales.
"Fuck, trying to get you to like me will be a difficult one, won't it?" He rubs his face.
"Maybe. It's going to take some effort." I sigh, moving a piece of hair out of his eyes.
"The outcome will be so worth the effort." He says and my cheeks burn red as we lock eyes, and I wonder how the hell I'm holding myself back right now.
"I'm sure it will." I say and he smirks.
"So how long do I have to pursue you for before I get an answer?" He asks and I pause to think about it, looking anywhere else but his face since he makes me way too nervous.
In my head, I want to say yes right now and tell him I like him, but in reality... I don't want anything to go wrong by rushing into things. And there's also the question of how would this work? Is this the wrong choice since we've got the NEWT exams next year? Will I get too distracted?
Right now though, I wouldn't dare turn him down. He's too precious to me to do that to him. All those questions? They can be figured out later on.
"Hmm... until I fold?" I reply to his question and he rolls his tongue along the inside of his cheek in interest.
"I see. Well this will be fun." He rubs his hands together in excitement.
"You're so sure you're going to win this?" I ask, standing up straight with my hands on my hips, squinting my eyes at him teasingly.
"Of course. I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve that I need to put into practice Nari." He says, taking a step closer to me, as he holds my cheek with his hand, and it slowly moves down to my neck, as he grips onto it gently.
Butterflies.
"So have I." I say, and quickly peck his cheek before running past him, leaving him stood there in shock before he chases me out of the Astronomy Tower, the sound of our laughter echoing throughout the hallway.
What am I going to do with this boy?
