Flashback from the end of the last chapter:
Glenn was at the front, a little further back, Tara and Eugene were talking, behind them Rosita with Sophie and behind them Abraham. After a while they reached a track and decided to follow it.Now:
Eugene talked something about the infection and dinosaurs while Tara listened to what the others did more or less voluntarily since the only thing you could hear was Eugene talking. Tara, who was walking next to him, suddenly stopped and picked up something that was a coin. “Oh direct hit” came Eugene, who looked as Tara picked up the coin. Tara looked at the coin for a moment while Eugene looked at Tara and continued talking. "A few more of those, a bit of aluminum foil and bleach and you get volts miss," Eugene then explained with a slight grin. Tara looked away from the coin and looked at Eugene, somewhat confused.
"A homemade battery," Eugene then explained when he saw the confusion on Tara's face. “Here” came Tara as she held out the coin to Eugene, who looked at Tara puzzled before accepting the coin.
"Seriously?" Eugene asked puzzled as he looked at the coin while he looked at Tara and she looked at him. "You don't want her?" Eugene then asked while still looking at Tara. "That's right, keep it," Tara said with a small grin before they continued on their way, whereupon Eugene thanked him and packed up the coin before following Tara.
The two then talked for a while about games of all kinds where Tara actually answered and this time it was a real conversation from both sides. "Mom, since when does Eugene talk so much?" It suddenly came from Sophie while she looked forward at the two of them. Rosita looked at her daughter when she heard Sophie's voice.
"I'm seeing that for the first time too, he found someone who was interested in this stuff," Rosita said with a smile, whereupon Sophie giggled. Abraham, who was at the back, now joined the two and walked next to Rosita."Ah look, has someone finally calmed down?" It came from Rosita in a slightly annoyed tone. Abraham sighed and looked at Rosita before saying anything. "Hey, I know that was really stupid of me before, I'm a real idiot," Abraham began and interrupted himself and changed the choice of words when he saw that Sophie was listening. Abraham knew it wasn't the best way to apologize, but Abraham generally wasn't the type to apologize often.
"Yes, you are, but it's precisely because you are one that I love you." Rosita Donfern now says it less annoyed in a normal tone, which makes Abraham smile slightly. “Love you too,” came Abraham gently after he gave Rosita a kiss, which she responded and smiled slightly."Eww" came from Sophie when Abraham and Rosita kissed, whereupon both smiled.
"Well, wait at some point you'll kiss someone you love very much and not say "ew", believe me," Abraham said with a laugh, whereupon Sophie shook her head, giggling. The three of them then went on and the group continued walking for quite a while. "Hey guys, we're calling it a day, it's getting dark so it's better we'll continue tomorrow when we've recharged some energy" it came from Abrabam and stopped, whereupon Tara, Eugene and even Glenn stopped and finally Glenn even agreed to take a break make. "We should set up guards while the others sleep," Glenn said seriously as he looked at the sky, which was getting darker and darker "Good idea," came Abraham's calm response as he looked at Glenn. "I'll take the first shift," Rosita said seriously and decisively as she looked into the small group. "No, you stay with Sophie, I'll take the first shift," Abraham began and looked at Tara to see if it was okay with her. "Sure," Tara said seriously, whereupon Abraham nodded.
A little later everyone had put their backpacks and bags together in one place. “Rosita” Glenn called out Rosita’s name as she talked to Tara about that chaotic day. "Yes?" It came from Rosita, who then turned around. Here, Sophie can use the night, Glenn came friendly as he looked at Rosita while holding a blanket in his hand that he took out of his backpack after Eugene and Abraham made a small fire after the two of them collected some wood. “What, are you sure? “It’s yours,” Rosita said, slightly surprised because she had expected everything else. “Yes, it's mine, but I want at least Sophie to sleep with it and maybe you too, you saved Tara and me so we owe you one. Besides, I can't let Sophie sleep outside in the cold like that, after all, she's a child and on top of that." "It's getting cold. And she’s not wearing the thickest jacket,” Glenn explained honestly and calmly.
"Thanks, Glenn." Rosita started talking while looking at Glenn."But actually we owe you something, you saved Sophie. Tara told me what happened during the attack." Rosita was now serious but also calm as she looked for a moment at Sophie, who was eating a little something after Abraham had given her something to eat. "Actually it was Tara, she was there before I even saw the walker at the truck," Glenn then explained, whereupon Rosita nodded and said that she still owed him something and in the end she was able to convince Rosita that she and Sophie would sleep in the tent with him on it do exist.
Later, when Eugene and Glenn were sleeping outside on their bags and Rosita was sleeping on a blanket that rosita had in her back with Sophie who is covered with glenns blanket , Abraham and Tara were sitting leaning against a tree, each with a rifle, and they had everyone in view.
It was quiet and you could only hear a few birds chirping, but that was it until Abraham suddenly yawned. "Go to sleep, I'll do it" Tara said calmly and worriedly when she heard Abraham's yawn. "Nothing against you, but I don't leave Eugene's life to you, the same goes for Sophie and Rosita can cope on her own if necessary and that's how I think Glenn is too," Abrabam said seriously while he looked into the dark.
Tara also looked into the dark until she looked at Abraham before answering him.
"You came with me because you needed help," Tara started but was interrupted by Abraham.“Mental support, nothing else” was Abraham’s answer. "We're going north with you until I find the right vehicle with which we can drive over the roads and over the rails," Abraham explained his plan while he looked at Tara for a moment until he continued. “Then six become four again,” came Abraham as he looked into the darkness again. “Or 3,” Tara replied, whereupon there was a short silence in which no one said anything until Abraham spoke up again after a short while.
“We all have our mission,” came Abraham, whereupon there was silence again. Tara, who was sitting with her knees bent while she had her arms over her knees, now placed her head on her arms that were on her knees. “You need sleep too,” Abraham said seriously while he looked at Tara. Tara lifted her head back up and looked at Abraham and waited until he said something else. "I've never seen you sleep before," Abraham said in a slightly amused but also serious tone while they both looked at each other.“At first I thought it was because you were in love with him,” Abraham said again while they were both looking straight into the dark again.
"A girl who is in love with a boy and helps him get to his girl," Abraham continued, pausing briefly before continuing. “In that case, it would just be too tragic if you closed your eyes,” Abraham then continued in the same tone but a little more seriously.
“If that were the case,” Tara said, and she emphasized that “that would be” something, to which Abraham replied with a simple “yes.”
"I saw you staring at Rosita's shirt when she brought you food earlier," Abraham said with a smile as he looked at Tara, who was still looking straight ahead. "Hey, there's something almost hypnotic about these things," Eugene said with a laugh as he looked at Tara. "But I'm sorry I have to disappoint you, she's taken with Leo, but hey, if she was single, I'd flirt her again and woukd try to take a chnace," Abraham said with a laugh as he looked at Sophie and Rosita, who were sleeping on a blanket not 3 meters away from Abraham and Tara was where Sophie was covered with Glenn's blanket. whereupon tara smiled and looked at him before abraham said something again."Eugene stares at your ass for half the day, I'm not mad, I mean I'm happily taken but that means my theory is wrong," Abraham then continued. “I'm really sorry,” Tara said, and you could hear a note of pity in her voice when she said it.
Abraham shook his head before saying anything. "It's okay, but somehow I'm right, but somehow I'm not," came Abraham in a quieter tone than before, whereupon Tara smiled when she saw that Abraham was annoyed that he was wrong and shortly afterwards there was another silence until Abraham followed a few minutes this time something said. "Is it about what you did or didn't do?" Abraham then asked after a few minutes of silence. "Yes, I think so," Tara said thoughtfully as she looked at Abraham at the end, whereupon Abraham gave a nod. Abraham looked at Sophie for a moment and smiled because the blanket was halfway next to her, so Abraham stood up briefly and put the rifle he had in his hand next to him. "Where are you going?" Tara said in confusion when she saw Abraham put his rifle aside before standing up. “To Sophie” came the short answer from Abraham as he quietly approached Sophie and Rosita. Tara looked briefly at Sophie when Abraham said that he was going to her and then Tara noticed the reason, the blanket was lying half next to the little girl, which made Tara smile slightly because she knew that from Meghan. Abraham then quietly walked up to Sophie and Rosita, took the blanket and laid it down so that it covered both Sophie and Rosita. Then he crouched down briefly and briefly stroked Sophie's hair before giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead. Then he also gave Rosita a kiss after covering them both and then went back to Tara, sat down and took his rifle back. Tara smiled at the sight. "You're doing a good job as a father, it's impressive that you've managed to protect the little one so far, not many children have managed it," Tara said softly but at the end rather seriously while she looked at Abraham, who nodded.
"That's right, since the shit started we haven't seen any children, no living ones," came Abraham, who looked at Rosita and Sophie.
“Yes, not many made it,” Tara said in a sad tone, whereupon Abraham nodded in confirmation. The two of them talked for a while about the changes in the world but also about other things and killed time until morning came. That's it for the chapter i hope you liked it ^^
