Flashback from the end of the last chapter:
"Yes, not many made it," Tara said in a sad tone, whereupon Abraham nodded in confirmation. The two of them talked for a while about the changes in the world but also about other things and killed time until morning came.
Now:
In the next morning everyone who had slept woke up, including Eugene and even Tara and Abraham, because in the middle of the night Rosita had replaced Tara and Glenn had also replaced Abraham. After everyone was awake, they were packing up their things when Rosita suddenly walked up to Glenn. "Hey, thanks again, that wasn't necessary," Rosita said in her usual tone as she gave Glenn his blanket that he had lent to Sophie for the night. Glenn looked at Rosita for a moment before saying something. "No issue," came Glenn as he packed the blanket into his bag. Rosita then went back to her things and checked to see if anything was missing, which wasn't the case. When everyone had finished packing up, Tara and Rosita gave everyone something to eat and then took some for themselves and then ate. Afterwards when everything was ready everyone put their backpack or bag on and was ready to go so the small group then left to go back to the tracks as they had slept in the forest because it was a bit safer and covered by the trees and bushes.
When they were at the tracks, Eugene followed again, Eugene talked to Tara while Glenn and Abraham looked around for walkers or other drivers.
"If you help us find supplies then we'll share the battery and the electricity, no matter how much that would be," came Eugene, who was walking next to Tara.
"Deal?" Frahte Eugene now looked at Tara who suddenly looked straight ahead in amazement and went to Glenn who was walking a little next to them because she saw something. Glenn saw it too and followed her at a quick pace. Rosita was about to say something but she saw it now and so did the others, it was a sign on which something had been written not long ago.The others followed Tara and Glenn and also went to the sign because everyone wanted to know what was written on it.
"What is written there?" Sophie was confused because she couldn't read it at the age of 6, because she wouldn't have been going to school in a long time or would have gotten into the school if the outbreak hadn't happened."Glenn go to Terminus, Maggie, Sasha, Bob" Glenn then read quietly but loudly enough for everyone to understand. Tara then looked briefly at Glenn, who started running straight away, whereupon Tara turned to Rosita, Eugene, Abraham and Sophie, whereupon Rosita and Eugene looked at each other while Abraham looked at the sign.
"I'm going after Glenn," Tara said uncertainly as she looked in Glenn's direction again.
"But not alone," Rosita said, slightly worried but rather serious, as she looked at Tara, who then looked at Rosita in slight surprise. "She's right, we're coming with you," Abraham finished the sentence for Rosita because he could guess what Rosita was planning to do. "We don't have a car at the moment anyway and what's more, we're a team," Abraham said seriously and convincingly. Tara still looked at him in surprise before she said anything.
"Thank you," came Tara with a smile, whereupon Abraham nodded. The five of them then went straight to where Glenn had been running before and caught up with him again after a while. They were a few meters behind him and followed Glenn while there was a silence in which no one said anything until Abraham spoke up after a while.
"Stop guys, we're taking a break here!" It came loudly from Abraham when they saw a tower or building-like thing while they were on the tracks and after Abraham said this, Abraham went there with Tara and Eugene because they were closest there, then Rosita and Sophie because the two Gabz were behind. Glenn went back now that he was further ahead and joined the others."Tired means slow and slow means death" came from Abraham while he looked at Glenn as Abraham put down his backpack. Glenn looked briefly at the sky and then at Abraham before Glenn said anything."It's not even noon," Glenn said irritably while he looked at Abraham.
"I don't care, none of us have slept more than a few hours since we walked here on the tracks, some are exhausted and Sophie can't do it anymore either. Rosita was at the back with Sophie so we want to take a break now so we can eat something can refuel," Abraham explained seriously as he looked at the others sitting down. "It looks safe here," he continued when he looked at Glenn again, who wasn't happy that there was a break now.
Hey, I understand that you want to find her, but Rosita and I also have a mission, namely to keep this man alive, to bring him to Washington and to save the damn world, so we're going into this tower and immediately." Things got serious from Abraham while he pointed at his own and then looked at Glenn, which ended up sounding rather angry. There was silence for a few seconds until you suddenly heard a noise from the tower and the group looked up at the tower It was from Glenn when he ran to Eugene because there was a walker in the tower that was running at the top and Eugene was the closest to it.
"Come on," came Abraham as he went to Eugene and pushed Tara, who fell to the ground while the walker got out of the tower.
"Ah," Tara said painfully, whereupon Rosita went straight to her with Sophie.
"Everything okay?" Rosita asked, to which Tara replied that everything was fine.
"We have to stay here, who will help me carry her up?" Rosita was serious but also slightly worried while Tara tried to get up and Glenn took her arm and helped her up. "Are you holding out?" Glenn asked as he helped Tara up, to which Tara said everything was fine.
"Break or move on?" Glenn asked both seriously but worried as he looked at Tara.
"No, keep going, I'm okay," Tara said, limping slightly and then standing again.
"Okay, if she can move on then we can all do that, or you can stay here," Glenn said very seriously."That's okay, we don't need you and you don't need us," Glenn said it again as he looked around, whereupon he received a pissed off look from Rosita. "What?" Glenn asked as he looked at Rosita and noticed her gaze while Tara was walking straight ahead which was more of a limp than a walk as she groaned a little in pain.
Rosita let out an indignant laugh, although the laugh wasn't meant seriously before she said anything. "You're such an ass, she always does what you say and would do everything you say just because she thinks she owes you something," Rosita said angrily while looking at Glenn.
"Be a man! Stay here at least a few hours" Rosita continued while still looking at Glenn, whereupon there was a moment of silence until Glenn spoke up.
"You only care if Eugene and Sophie are safe, is that the only reason for the job?" Glenn asked seriously as he walked over to Abraham and looked directly at him.
"We'll run until sunset, I'll provide my protective equipment right here and everyone will benefit," it became serious, although the beginning sounded more like an order.
"Not only Tara," Rosita said, still angry and annoyed, as she looked at Glenn.
"Hey, you're not her mother," Abraham said seriously.
"Maybe but Tara is injured and Sophie is exhausted," Rosita said seriously while she looked at Abraham. Abraham now looked at Tara and only said something after a few seconds.
"If Tara says she can walk, then she can too," Abraham said seriously while Tara turned around and limped off. Abraham then turned to Sophie and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Honey, are you still holding out?" Abraham asked Sophie while looking at her, to which Sophie then nodded in confirmation and Abraham turned away from Sophie and looked at Glenn and Rosita.
"Well then it's decided, we'll walk until sunset and you stay with Sophie." It came from Abraham and at the end he turned to Rosita, who then simply nodded while the others then started running to continue and so the group left continue to find their way to Terminus where Glenn hopes to see Maggie again there but he also hopes to see Sasha and the others.
