Flashback from the end of the last chapter:
So they drove on and Tara also kept an eye on Glenn and hoped that he would wake up soon. The drive lasted a few more hours when Tara suddenly heard some noises next to her and when she looked she noticed that Glenn was moving.
Now:
"Hey, don't move," Tara said when she saw Glenn look around and wanted to sit up, but she touched him on the shoulder, whereupon Glenn lay back down again.
Tara now looked at Glenn who was also looking at her but looked at her rather cluelessly as he didn't know what was going on or where he was. "Here, some water," Tara said as she took a bottle of water and opened it up. Glenn looked around again briefly before looking at Tara. "Where are we?" Glenn said it slightly panicked but also confused as he then looked at Tara.
"I don't know," Tara began as she looked at Lenn as he slowly sat up.
"We fought shortly after prison and then you passed out and it was safer for me up here on this truck than somewhere on the side of the road," Tara then explained, to which Glenn then nodded. "Hey," Tara said with concern when Glenn suddenly said revolt. "Are we past the bus? There was a bus on the street?" Glenn asked immediately while looking back at Tara who confirmed with a "yes".
"What did you saw?" Glenn then asked the next question, whereupon Tara didn't say anything at first, but instead looked at Glenn uncertainly and with some fear.
"What you saw?" Glenn then became more serious and a bit more threatening, which didn't make things any better.
"They were all dead," Tara answered his question briefly but honestly.
Glenn said seriously to Tara before saying anything again. "And how long ago was that?" Glenn then asked seriously, whereupon Tara explained to him that it had been about 3 hours. Glenn nodded at that as he looked around again.
"Dad, I think the man is awake," Sophie said while she heard Glenn.
"It's about time he missed everything," Abraham said with amusement.
"Can he forget" it came out, still in an amused tone, when Abraham suddenly raised his right hand a little high, pointed the middle finger forward, which was of course directed at Glenn, who was in the back of the truck bed after he had knocked on the window and said this several times Abraham should stop the truck. Rosita smiled at Abrajam's reaction and Sophie laughed because of it, which made Abraham laugh too. Glenn then knocked on the window several times, which Tara also did. "Hey stupid, stop!" It then came from Tara when Soe also hit the window.
"Hold on!" Glenn said loudly before he grabbed the rifle, something between him and Tara
before he hit it violently against the window, whereupon Sophie was frightened at first and so was Eugene.
"Mom, dad" came the frightened sound as Glenn hit the window several times with the gun and this time yelled for the car to stop.
"Hey, it's okay, darling," Rosita said gently as she turned to her daughter and Siphie then looked at Rosita.
"This bum is going to break the truck," Abraham said in a pissed tone and he decided to stop the truck, which he did and the truck then slowed down until he stopped. Tara and Glenn were briefly startled when they noticed the truck stopped. Glenn grabbed his backpack and his rifle and then climbed down from the truck bed and Tara did the same. Abraham also got out of the truck and was pretty pissed off and rosita, eugene and sophie also got out, although for once Sophie stayed with eugene because he took a little longer to get out and abraham seems really pissed off and rosita's mood isn't any better, or at least she is is annoyed.
"Where the hell is he going?" Abraham asked immediately as he went to Glenn and Tara."Well, I don't know what your girlfriend is telling you about our mission, but time is an important factor and we were already lagging behind anyway," Abraham said to Glenn in a serious and pissed manner while he looked at Glenn. Abraham then walked a little and stood in front of Glenn so that Abraham blocked his path slightly and he continued to look at Glenn before Abraham continued.
So get your ass back and get on the truck," Abraham continued, which sounded more like an order than a request. Eugene and Sophie watched the gabze from a smaller distance since the two were a few feet away from the action. Glenn looked at Abraham once before he said anything. "But I have to go," Glenn said seriously and he wanted to go further but Glenn's path was still blocked by Abraham."It seems as if none of you have noticed the hell we live in here, I'll explain to you how you avoid becoming such a half-dead asshole. You look for strong, similar-minded comrades and stay together no matter what happens," it came Abraham was now serious and there was silence for a moment until Abraham's anger took hold again. "We need people, the more the better. We need each other, but even if you have your equipment with you, you won't be able to make it out here overnight, at least not alone," Abraham continued seriously, but you could tell he was being honest.
Glenn looked at Abraham for a moment before saying anything. "I'll risk it," said Glenn, determined but also serious, as he looked at Abraham before trying to pass him again. "I insist that you stay," he said seriously and more in a commanding tone as he placed a hand on Glenn's chest area to stop him from walking, whereupon Glenn grabbed Abraham's wrist.
"I don't care if you believe it or not, but the fate of damned humanity could depend on it," Abraham replied in the same tone he had used all along. There was then silence for a moment until Glenn spoke up. "What, what are you telling me?" Glenn now came out in a calmer tone than before, while Abraham took his hand away when he saw that Glenn had calmed down a bit. "Who is this guy?" Glenn asked as he looked at Tara but before Tara answered Glenn's question about what Aagen could do, Abraham spoke up. "I am Sergeant Abraham Ford, and these are my comrades," Abraham began to explain as he first introduced himself.
"This is Rosita Espinosa," Abraham said more calmly and pointed his head at Rosita, who looked at the two of them with a cocky smile while putting her hands over her head. "And this is Doctor Eugene Porter, he is a scientist. We are on a mission to bring Eugene to Washington and he knows what caused this hell," Abraham explained as he pointed to Eugene who looked at Sophie who was watching something nearby.
There was silence for a moment and Glenn looked at Rosita and Eugene when he noticed a baby near Eugene."And who is this?" Glenn asked a little skeptically and seriously as he looked at Eugene and Sophie and then at Abraham again. Abraham followed his gaze even though he knew exactly who Glenn was talking about. "This is my daughter Sophie," Abraham explained briefly, whereupon Glenn nodded.
"All right, so how was it?" Glenn asked as he ran a hand through his hair before looking at Abraham. "It's top secret" came from Eugene and when Glenn heard that he looked at Eugene and Sophie. "He spoke to the big shots in Washington on his satellite phone, but no one has answered in the last few weeks," Abraham explained, but he sounded a bit disappointed at the end of the explanation. "We need your help," Abraham said in a more normal tone as he looked at Glenn. Glenn thought for a moment before answering.
"I'm sorry," Glenn said as he looked at Abraham and there was a hint of pity in his eyes. Rosita shook her head while an indignant smile appeared on her face, which quickly disappeared and then an annoyed expression appeared.
Glenn now went on and Tara ran to Glenn to be next to him and Rosita and Abraham followed the two while Eugene stayed with Sophie at the truck. "I had to get us off the street, you were unconscious and we had no more ammunition," Tara began to explain nervously. "I know how you get back to the bus, I've memorized the route, I'll take you back if you want," she said, still nervous and trying to find a solution.
"She would go there to find me so I have to too". Glenn said it seriously and decisively as he walked along.
"This is a waste of time, Tara told us what happened while you were unconscious, the chances are 0 that you will find your wife alive or dead." Abraham began and Glenn listened before he said anything. "Especially because I'm sorry to say this, but she's dead and you don't have to die too, got it? Be happy that you're still alive, so get back on the truck." Abraham then drove away and meanwhile looked at Glann, who continued to run in front of Abraham, Rosita and Tara but he then suddenly stopped and Eugene looked after Sophie pointed out to him that Glenn and the others had stopped and it was in sight so not too far away from the truck. There was another moment of silence in which no one said anything when Glenn suddenly let his backpack and equipment slide down over his shoulder, causing everything to fall to the floor. Abraham wanted to continue but he left it at that because he is not a sentimental and empathetic person, at least not in front of anyone other than his family or people he cares about. "But the people we love, if they die, it doesn't mean we have to die too," Abraham said in a calm tone, which was followed by a short silence and Glenn turned around after a few seconds. "But she's still alive!" Glenn said it decisively and seriously as he hit Abraham in the face and he fell to the ground. "And I will find her no matter how" Glenn continued as he picked up his backpack and sat down again while Abraham put a hand under his nose to check if he was bleeding or not while Rosita looked at Glenn angrily and she put a hand on her gun in her holster in case things escalated further.
"You little bastard," Abraham said angrily as he walked up to Glenn and attacked him from behind. Tara and Rosita immediately went there as Glenn and Abraham fought. "Abraham let him go!" It came from Tara who held Abraham and tried to get him to move away from Glenn, whereupon Abraham only pushed her to the side. "Come on" Rosita said as she saw Tara fall to the side as Tara much. Tara then stood up again while Rosita spoke again. "Have you gone crazy Abraham?" It came from Rosita when Glenn and Abraham continued to fight and Glenn pushed Abraham away before Glenn got up, which Abraham also did before the two fought again and both Tara and Rosita tried to stop the two and break them apart.Meanwhile, Sophie, who was with Eugene, looked around when she suddenly went to Eugene, who was on the other side of the truck.
"Eugene, there's one of those things," Sophie said with fear as she went to Eugene. He looked at Sophie and took a few steps in that direction to see what she was talking about and he realized that there was a walker coming out of the forest, followed by several others from the field. Eugene then finally turned towards where the others were.
"Hey!, hey guys!" Eugene shouted something twice but no one heard because Abraham and Glenn were too focused on fighting each other and Tara and Rosita tried to separate the two. When Eugene didn't see any reaction from the others, he ran to the open door of the truck and grabbed a rifle, checked whether it was loaded and shot once at the ground and then shot several times at the head of the walker who came out of the woods and then died to the ground a lot. Abraham and Glenn stopped immediately when they heard the shots and looked where the shots were coming from. Tara and Rosita also looked at where the shots came from and they noticed the walkers coming out of the forest and out of the field. "Eugne, Sophie!" Abraham shouted as he got up and ran to Eugene when he saw that Eugene was shooting around because Eugene has no experience with weapons so he'll only get a hit if he's lucky. Rosita and Tara ran after Abraham as Abraham ran to Eugene and Sophie ran while Glenn looked on confused. "Stop shooting, we need our ammunition!" It came loudly from Abraham as he ran to Eugene while Tara and Rosita followed him and Rosita had her hand on one of her weapons in her holster on her hip because Rosita has a holster with a pistol on her right hip and on her right as well. When Abraham saw the crowd of walkers, he pulled out his pistol and shot the walkers too, which Rosita also did. "Sophie get in the truck and close the door!" Rosita then called out seriously and worried, whereupon Sophie immediately ran to the open truck. "A weapon, I need a weapon!" In the meantime, Glenn came loudly when he came to it while Rosita Eugene and Abraham were shooting at the walkers. "Maybe there are some in the truck," replied Tara, who ran to him, whereupon Glenn nodded and they both made their way to the truck where Sophie wanted to sit in the front because the door was open. "Damn," Glenn said seriously when he saw the crowd of walkers around him, whereupon Tara gave him a nod of confirmation. "We have to get to this tru-" Glenn started talking but then stopped himself when he saw Tara suddenly running faster.
"What, what are you up to?!" Glenn asked loudly as he followed Tara and now became faster, but Tara didn't answer him but instead pulled out her knife and stabbed a walker in the head who was almost at the truck when Sophie got in.
"Huh?" Sophie was damn shocked when she sat down in the truck and saw the walker fall dead. "Kid, are you okay?" Tara asked worried and stressed, to which Sophie nodded.
"You saved her and I didn't even notice that there was a walker behind her," Glenn said in amazement, whereupon Tara grinned slightly but turned to Sophie. "Hey kid, are there any weapons in this truck? Pistols or rifles? Anything?" Tara now asked and looked at Sophie while Glenn kept Tara's back free. "Yes," Sophie said a little nervously and with difficulty she got a rifle and it was lying on the passenger seat where her feet usually are and she gave it to Tara who gave it to Glenn who took it and then Tara took one too because there were several weapons there and guns are lying there. "You're staying here? Keep the doors closed," Tara said as she walked away, whereupon Sophie nodded. "Tara is right, keep the doors closed no matter what happens," Glenn instructed Sophie before he also left and the two of them now support the others. Tara and Glenn now helped Abraham, Eugene and Rosita to kill the walkers, which worked after a few minutes and almost all of the walkers were lying on the ground until Glenn killed the last one, who then fell to the ground. Abraham then went up to Eugene and took the gun away from him and walked towards the truck when he suddenly heard a drip while Rosita went to the passenger door and opened it before she asked Sophie if everything ok, who nodded. Rosita helped Sophie out and then noticed Abraham looking at the floor of the truck. "Holy shit," Abraham muttered as he took another close look at the damage.
"What is?" Rosita asked when she saw Abraham looking at the hole in the truck. "We have a hole or something similar, I'll take a look at it," Abraham explained and then gave the rifle to Tara, who took it from him. Abraham then took tools out of the truck and lay down underneath them and began to repair the damage. Meanwhile he told an old story from his time in the army. Abraham told this story for a while and Rosita, who was now standing at the truck with Sophie and Rosita had leaned against the truck and was with one hand on the left weapon by the left holster, sighed while Glenn cleaned his knife and put it back again.
"But now tell me mao how on earth you managed to get hold of that fucking tank" came from Abraham after a few minutes when he had finished repairing and sat up while looking at Eugene.
"Abraham, choice of words" came from Rosita with a warning look because she didn't want Abraham to use expletives or swear words in Sophie's presence. Abraham looked briefly at Rosita but then turned his attention back to Eugene.
"In which a man is pumped full of adrenaline and has no idea about weapons," Eugene replied while looking at Abraham. In the meantime, Glenn walked away a little and Rosita looked at him briefly and wanted to turn around again when she suddenly saw something on the floor. Rosita bent down on the floor, picked up what turned out to be a small picture and looked at it briefly before speaking to Glenn.
"Hey is it yours?" Rosita asked and held the picture out to him. Glenn accepted it and looked at the picture for a moment to see if it was his or not and wmed was his because it was a picture of Maggie that he had taken in prison. Rosita looked at him while she waited for an answer but Glenn just silently grabbed the picture without saying anything and went to Abraham. "I'm sorry about the truck, hopefully you can make it to Washington," Glenn said rather quietly and understandingly as he went to Abraham and gave him the borrowed rifle back, who accepted it. Then Glenn went to his backpack, which was still lying in the middle of the path. Tara looked briefly as Glenn left. She went to Rosita, put the gun in her hand and told Glenn to wait as she went to him. Rosita looked briefly at the rifle and let it hang while she had it in one hand. Afterwards she looked briefly at Abraham and then again at Tara and Glenn, whereupon Rosita sighed and went in the same direction. After taking the bag and Sophie's backpack out of the truck, Mahm Rosita took Sophie's hand into her free hand. Rosita felt Abraham's gaze on her back and she sighed again. "What the hell else are we supposed to do? The truck is there, so come on," Rosita said angrily while shaking her head while Abraham and Eugene were still standing there.
Abraham took a step forward before he said anything. "Let's go to Washington and put the world back in order, Rosita!" Abraham shouted loudly, causing Sophie to look at Rosita.
"Mom, what does dad mean?" Sophie asked confused but also curious and worried. "Oh, your father just doesn't want to see that we can't go any further, that's all, don't worry about it, darling," Rosita said lovingly while she gave her daughter a smile. "Okay, but is dad coming with you?" Sophie now said it worriedly, whereupon Rosita sighed. "He'll come along, he wouldn't leave you alone or me either, we're a family," Rosita said in the same tone, but at the end she looked forward again where Tara and Glenn were just a little ahead of them. Rosita quickened the pace a little, but Sophie caught up so that the two of them were now at the same pace as Tara and Glenn, which was now the case. "Mom?, you and him have a child?" Glenn asked confused but also in an amused tone. "Yes, do you have a problem?" Rosita said in a slightly annoyed tone. "No, I was just curious," came Glenn's reply. Tara hadn't really listened at all because she was a bit preoccupied and only understood the word "child" and "you".
"What, who has a child with who?" Tara missed it, whereupon Rosita smiled a bit and Glenn sighed. "Abraham and Rosita" Glenn then explained to Tara as he looked at her. "Sophie right?" Tara asked after she nodded. Ukd looked at Glenn and Rosita, whereupon Rosita gave a confirming nod. Meanwhile, Eugene went to Abraham, who was still standing there. "We'll find another car, let's go with them," Eugene said when he looked at Tara, Rosita, Glenn and Sophie, whereupon he received a dirty look from Abraham. "Trust me, I'm smarter than you," he said in an annoyed tone while Eugene grinned slightly before going to the truck bed and getting his stuff. Abraham stood there thinking for a few seconds before walking from the side of the truck to the bed and getting ammunition and the weapons. When Abraham wanted to leave, Eugene spoke up. Abraham, do you want to take the child seat with you? "Just in case we find a new car?" asked Own, whereupon Abraham thought for a moment and got the seat. Then both of them also went in the direction of the others and followed them. After a moment everyone was roughly in one area and in One speed. Glenn was at the front, a little further back, Tara and Eugene were talking, behind them Rosita with Sophie and behind them Abraham. After a while they reached a track and decided to follow it.
