Flashback from the end of the last chapter:
Rosita now sat in the driver's seat, closed the door and buckled Sophie in before starting the engine.“I dare betide you, you are navigating wrong,” it came in a warning but also admonishing tone as she looked at Eugene, who nodded. Rosita put her hands on the steering wheel and was now ready to drive off.
Now:
The group was on the road again for a while and Abraham slept in the back seat. “Turn left here” came from Eugene when he saw Rosita who was driving. Rosita looked over at Eugene annoyed before she said anything.
"This is the third time in five minutes that I'm supposed to turn libks, we're wrong," Rosita said, annoyed but slightly angry, as she looked back and forth between Eugene and the street.
"No, we're not," was the only answer from Eugene, who is now also on the street.
“Turn left,” came Abraham, whereupon Rosita sighed but drove left anyway. Rosita looked at him again annoyed before she said anything. "Just say that you were wrong, the gas is worth more than your ego, we'll have a problem if we run out of it," came Rosita while she looked at the street but in the end she looked back at Eugene. "If you want to talk about gasoline then we'll also talk about the open windows," came Eugene while he looked at Rosita. "Can they stay away? It stinks in here," Sophie said while she looked between Eugeke and Rosita. "The windows stay open here, it stinks like a morgue, Sophie is right," Rosita said somewhat hysterically as she looked at Eugene . “Stop, stop the car,” Eugene suddenly said, whereupon Rosita stopped the car and looked at Eugene. "Why are we stopping here?" Rosita said confusedly when she looked at Eugene.Eugene adjusted the protective equipment he had gotten from Glenn but didn't answer Rosita's question, whereupon Rosita turned around and cursed briefly to herself, which Eugene didn't understand because it was too quiet and also because it was in Spanish. Sophie looked at Rosita because she understood the volume and because she knows a little Spanish because Rosita taught her a little from time to time. Rosita then turned to Eugene angrily. "Liar!" Rosita got angry, whereupon Eugene answered her with a short, curt "no" while he looked out the window.
"So that was your plan, that's why you insisted on navigating and told Abraham to sleep," Rosita said angrily and looked at Eugene. "I didn't insist on anything," was all that came from Eugene, who was still looking out the window.
"What's wrong with you?" Rosita came annoyed while she looked at Eugene, who was finally looking at Rosita.
"If Glenn and Tara are still alive, there were no significant delays, they managed almost three miles an hour and I calculated that correctly in my head then they can be here somewhere," Eugene said while he looked at Rosita interrupted him immediately.
"Those two are not our priority, but to somehow get you to Washington without anything happening to you and that Sophie is safe," Rosita said seriously while looking at Eugene at the end. "After I saved the world, I still have to live with myself," Eugene said while looking at Rosita. There was silence for a few seconds until Eugene spoke up again.
"I'm not leaving her behind," Euegne said seriously but also resolutely as he opened the passenger door and wanted to get out. When Eugene opened the door and wanted to get out, his seat fell backwards, directly into Abraham's face.
"Dad" came from Sophie worriedly when she heard Abraham as he got the seat in his face. Rosita rolled her eyes in annoyance when she saw that Eugene had woken Abraham up. "Damn crap," Abraham said angrily as he sat up quickly but didn't know what was going on because Eugene had, so to speak, woke him up from his sleep. "Why are we stopping here?" Did it come directly from Abraham and you could hear that he was angry.
"If you've made it through the tunnel you'll be here somewhere," Eugene explained.
“Are you kidding me now?” Abraham asked angrily. "What's your problem?" It came straight and angry from Abraham when he looked at Eugene and then at Rosita. "My problem?" Rosita said indignantly as she turned around when she noticed Abraham's look. Abraham then said that Rosita was the driver. Abraham then said that she shouldn't stop, whereupon it developed into an argument between the two where the two half shouted at each other. "Mom, dad!" It now came loudly from Sophie, whereupon Abraham, Rosita and Eugene looked at Sophie who pointed to the tunnel where they could hear loud walkers and it sounded as if they were focused on something.
“Damn,” came Abraham, cursing, whereupon Rosita asked what they should do now. "We're saving their asses for the second time now," Abraham said while he took his rifle and got out, which Rosita did the same and Euegen and Sophie also got out and Sophie stayed behind Rosita after Abraham told her Sophie should stay with Rosita and Rosita Sophie told her to stay behind her. So they went into the tunnel. On the way into the tunnel they met two women and a man who immediately asked who they were. “This is Eugene Porter,” Abraham was the first to say to Eugene and was about to continue introducing the others when Rosita suddenly spoke up. "Rosita espinosa" came from Rosita in her usual tone with her usual arrogant grin, whereupon the one woman smiled at her. "And who are you?" It came from the other woman when she saw Sophie behind Rosita. Sophie looked at Rosita to see if Sophie should say her name and then Rosita nodded. "Sophie" came quietly but loud enough to be understood and shy from Sophie. "That's a great name, I'm Sasha and that's Maggie and that's Bob" the woman first introduced herself and the man then the other woman. "So you're the woman that Glenn has been talking about the whole time," Abraham said a little thoughtfully but also a little amused when he heard Maggie's name. "What do you know Glenn, where is he? Is he okay?" the woman asked immediately and countless questions flashed through her head. Abraham explained that he saved Glenn and Tara but they went into that tunnel.
"Hey, how about we look for them together?" Sasha said it in a gentle tone while she looked around, whereupon Abraham was the first to agree because he, Rosita, Aophie and Euegene wanted to go into the tunnel to see Glenn and Tara anyway to search and, if necessary, to rescue. Afterwards, Maggie also agreed and so they walked through the tunnel together until they heard the walkers more and more clearly. After a few moments they were deep in the tunnel where you could see the walker trying to grab onto something that was behind some rocks and you could hear Tara's and Glenn's voices. "Tara and Glenn" came from Sophie quietly, frightened and worried, whereupon Rosita and Abraham shot at the walkers, who quickly fell to the ground dead after being shot in the head or immediately losing their heads. While she was shooting, Rosita made sure that Sophie stayed close behind Rosita. After all walkers were taken care of. There was now a few seconds of silence in which no sound or anything else could be heard.
Glenn raised his head in shock as he took cover but stood protectively in front of Tara and he didn't at all expect that he and Tara would somehow be saved. Glenn then turned around and briefly held his hand in front of his face while Eugene shone a flashlight in the direction. Maggie immediately went over to Glenn with concern and hugged him on the spot. He hugged Maggie back who was crying with joy after which he kissed her which he returned making Maggie and Glenn smile.
"Hey," Maggie said with relief and a smile as she took Glenn's face in her hands, whereupon Glenn responded with a gentle "Hi." Now Abraham asked Tara if everything was okay, who confirmed it with a nod.
When Maggie and Glenn separated again, everyone put the walkers aside, but of course Sophie wasn't supposed to and wasn't allowed to help, so Sasha suggested that Sophie help her make a fire so that everyone could rest first. Abraham agreed to rest but didn't trust her to be completely alone with his daughter so he kept an eye on Sophie while she was with Sasha while the others grabbed the walkers aside. When everything was done, almost everyone was at the fire, only Glenn and Maggie stood a little further away from the others and enjoyed the fact that they had finally found each other again and Rosita was a little further away at the exit from the tunnel together with Tara."You're so beautiful," Glenn said softly and smiled as he looked at Maggie. Glenn looked at Rosita and Tara as they came back and went to Glenn. "And how did it go?" Glenn asked curiously as he looked at Rosita while he had his hands in his pockets. "The exit is secured, if anyone tries to come in we'll hear it immediately," she assured Glenn while Rosita held her rifle in her hands as she looked at Glenn. Maggie now also spoke up. "I don't think we know each other yet," Maggie said in a nice tone as she looked at Tara. “Maggie, this is Tara, Tara, this is Maggie,” Glenn introduced the two of them with a smile.
"He, he's a big fan of yours," Tara said with a laugh as she looked at Maggie, which made Maggie laugh slightly. "I met Tara on the way but without her I wouldn't be here now and wouldn't have made it," Glenn said as he explained to Maggie where he knew Tara from. Maggie then suddenly hugged Tara and thanked her that thanks to Tara, Glenn is still alive. "When she heard what I was doing, Tara wanted to help me straight away, that's the kind of person Tara is," Glenn continued to explain with a smile as Maggie let Tara go. Whereupon Tara smiled at Glenn's words and shortly afterwards went to the others, which was more of a limp because Tara still had pain in her leg and Rosita followed her. Glenn and Maggie then went back to the others where Abraham was sitting next to Sophie, who was sleeping leaning against Abraham and now everyone was by the fire.
"What's up?" Glenn asked confused as he came back with Maggie and Sasha stood up and looked at the two. "He said he knows the reason for the outbreak," Sasha said suddenly as she pointed first at Abraham and then at Eugene while looking at Glenn and Maggie.Glenn took a quick breath before saying anything. "Yes, that's right," came Glenn, whereupon he took a short break before he said anything again. "Let me guess, he asked you to go to Washington with him," came Glenn, which sounded more like a fact than a question until there was a short silence until Abraham said something. "I'm glad that you've found each other again and you should celebrate the rest of the night because tomorrow the nine of us will squeeze into the car and drive to Washington together," Abraham continued as he put his arm around little sleeping Sophie Jat, who wasn't sleeping at all Has no idea what's going on around her since she was asleep. “I'm going with you,” came Tara, whereupon there was silence until Eugene said something. "No, he's wrong, we've made it 55 percent of the way from Houston to Washington," Eugene suddenly said as he looked around. With a military vehicle and a dead man. "Hey!" Rosita said loudly while she gave Eugene a warning look. "He's dead" came from Abaraham while he looked at his own, who now spoke again. "I can't imagine that we'll have any more luck with this box than we had with the truck, we're a day away from Terminus and who knows what there is there," came Eugene as he looked around and saw everyone once. "I have to see Terminus, my brother could be there, I want to know," Sasha suddenly said as she folded her arms. “Both also apply to me,” said Bob, who also spoke up. "He says I'm wrong, okay then we'll drive to the end of the track tomorrow, is that okay with you too?" It came from Abraham and at the end he looked at Rosita who nodded, whereupon he also nodded. "And then we're off to Washington," Abraham continued, to which the others agreed.
The next morning the group set off and followed the tracks until they arrived at a large building with "terminus" written on it. The group walked closer where they ended up at a fence which Glenn opened with hesitation and went inside and Abraham held Sophie close with him because he didn't know what was waiting for her inside. When they came in they saw a few people and also stalls. For example, at one stand they were grilling, while somewhere else there was one with a grater. A woman who was at the barbecue stand noticed her and turned around before walking towards the group.
