True Family

Blood ties once seemed unbreakable, a foundation I thought would last.
But pain seeped through those sacred bonds, leaving scars upon my past.
They who should have sheltered me, instead became the storm.
Their actions cut like sharpened blades, leaving my heart torn and worn.
But in my darkest hour, when hope had all but fled, you appeared, a stranger then, and caught me as I bled.
No shared history between us, no obligation to be kind.
Yet you reached out with open hands, and helped me heal my mind.
You showed me what true family means, not bound by DNA, but by actions born of love, that chase the hurt away.
A stranger once, now closer than those who share my name.
You've redefined what family is, and put the past to shame.
In your eyes, I see acceptance, in your words, I find my worth.
You've become the family I choose, a bond of rebirth.
So though the old ties have unraveled, new connections I have found.
In you, dear stranger turned savior, true family I've found.
