Invisible Depths

Beneath the surface, I'm sinking fast, lungs burning, desperate for air.
Above, the world moves on, unsurpassed, while I'm trapped in mute despair.
I cry your name, bubbles rising, each plea lost in watery silence.
My arms reach out, agonizing, you walk by, oblivious to my violence.
The currents pull me deeper still, into a darkness cold and vast.
I scream and thrash with all my will, but you can't see this unseen contrast.
Your silhouette, a fading light, grows distant on the water's sheen.
I'm drowning in plain sight, yet to you, I remain unseen.
My tears mix with the flooding tide, salt with salt, grief with grief.
If only you would look inside, you'd see my need for your relief.
But I sink alone, unnoticed, unheard, in waters of my own despair.
My silent cries remain unheard, as you breathe free in open air.
